What is the best 80mm fan that is quiet and performs great. I will be needing 4 of these (2 side, 2 rear).

They will be controlled by a Antec True Control 550. Or a fan controller.

Right now I am looking at the Panaflo H1. Also they should be 4 pin.

the panoflo L1A's are great but they're 3-pin. your fan controller only accepts molex connections???

No, the Antec Fan Controller is molex.

Edit: This will be cooling a sidewinder case with a OCed A64. I guess I dont need much CFM if I will be having 3 intake (2 80mm side, 1 120mm front) and 3 exhaust (2 80mm rear, PSU).

So I picked out my 120mm fan and that is the SilenX. But what should I use for the 80mm ones?

SilenX fans are not such a good choice... You are much better off with a Nexus, Papast, or Globe for a 120mm. For the 80mm, check out Sunon.

with SilenX you need to make sure your are not getting a counterfeit fan...there alot out there that claim to be SilenX but are not...these fans are supposed to be very quiet and move air

http://www.silenx.com/productcart/pc/mainindex.asp

they are pricey and only have a few real resellers...becareful

But I do think they are excellent products but I would consider Nexus as they are much lower in price

Look at the Vantec Stealth fans. They ship ready for connecting to a mobo, as well as with molex connection adapters (gives you both options). They are very quiet (real world use).

I personally think Silverstone's RPM Controlled Fans are hard to beat. They come with a rheostat in the package, or if you already have a fan controller you can slave them to that.

Anyway, they run between 1300RPM at 17 DB (for comparison, the Vantec Stealths run around 27 DB), or 5500 RPM at 44 DB. 44 is pretty loud as fans go, but I doubt you'd ever need to crank these things up that high. It's also worth noting that they're double ball bearing fans, and they move a ton of air - the 80mm moves about 73 CFM at 5500 RPM, meaning you can leave it around 2500 and it will still probably move more air than a Vantec Stealth and be quieter too.

For the money, like I said, I think they're hard to beat.

80mm Stealth's are rated at 21db, not 27. The Panaflo L1 is rated at the same db level but less CFM.

I've used the Stealth fans as well as ones from Coolermaster and Tt. Of the three, the Vantec are the quietest with Coolermaster being second. The Tt fans were listed at more db, and they were louder, much louder.

If you want quiet, get one Stealth and give it a shot... Worst case, you just replace that one with a different fan, repeat until you find the one you like the best...

I say just get some high performance fans that move a ton of air, and drown em out with a 6 point surround system

Panaflos are, hands down, the best fans on the market. Get 2 L1A's/12L's for the 80mm than get a low speed 120mm or medium speed 120mm. That is going to be near silent, yet push a lot of air.

Be careful about tigerdirect. They are a mixed bag when it comes to actually recieving your product and are especially bad with rebates. They usually come through, but have the worst record with my orders. Maybe they just don't like me...

IMHO, Panaflos are highly overrated. Their CFM to noise ratio is higher than many overlooked fans such as Enermax's.

Just compare

Enermax's 120mm fans
64 cfm
24 db
1500 rpm

or 93 cfm
30 db
2300 rpm

Panaflo's 120mm

86 cfm
35 db
2100 rpm

Both are roughly the same price. Which would you rather have?

Errr I can't seem to edit my post nor create threads so forgive my spelling errors becaues I'm too lazy to proof read.
I meant to say Panaflo's have lower CFM to noise ratio. And the Enermax 120mm fan is adjustable, thats why you see 2 specs.

Sammy those specs mean basically nothing because there isn't a really solid standard for them.
For "80mm" fans is is really hard to beat Panaflo. Yes I had adjustable Enermax adjustable fans also. I had to throw them in the garbage they were so loud. A Panaflo H1A wasn't even half as loud pushing at least as much air.

The BGMicro deal on Panaflo's can't be beat. If you need different connectors they have them also. $1.95ea (I think) I have seen em for $1.00 ea also.
