Hello,

I'm planning to buy one opty 165 or 170, OC it to 2,6 or so. I am looking for a mobo that supports a good overclock and be stable.

I like the asus a8n32SLI, for the 8-phase power circuit. But I don't want a second video card, I think there is no sense in SLI.

This left me the Asus a8ne but I have read too many negative reviews, so what are my options? DFI? gigabyte?

please help

I believe they are both good, but the Epox got an Anandtech gold award thingy. I personally have just bought the Epox, arrived today, will build the system tomorrow, so it was my choice of mobo.

I loved my Epox. Overclocked great and the chipset fan was relatively quiet.

Just got my Epox last night and installed. Had to do clean W2k3 install due to my negligence. Checking BIOS tonigiht to make sure I have latest. My only complaint with newer motherboards in general is "where are all the PCI slots?"

All I can say is don't get the ASUS. I have the A8N-E and I'm not a fan. In fact, this will probably be the last product I buy from them.

I just posted a review of an Asrock board. You might wanna read it and see if it fits your needs. It's a nice board

Well, I second not getting the A8N-E.

I've had good luck with MSI, except for a recent DOA K8N NEO Plat that I was going to install.
We'll see how things go once I EVER get the replacement from Zipzoomfly... I don't think their return system
could be ANY SLOWER.

Thank you very much guys!

I will go with the EPOX, but I am between the + and the +ultra, the only difference is the raid controller and the number of PCI slots

my experience has been miserable. I've replaced the NB fan 3 times. I had issues with the 1008 bios and standby mode, I moved to 1010, but that locked my HD book order, so I went back to 1008...which was nearly impossible...I later tried to go to 1011 and fried the BIOS...$20 later I have a new Bios with....wait for it...1010. Yes, Asus shipped me an old bios chip...still have the boot order issues...I would never buy an ASUS product again.

I have nothing but praise for the Asus A8N-E.

It isn't the best non-SLI S939 board out there, but it certainly is a great board for its price.

Mine was shipped with BIOS 1008, which was problematic for me because I installed an Opteron processor. The A8N-E did not recognize the processor.

I flashed the BIOS to 1011 with ease, and it has worked great ever since.
It's just a bit picky about its memory, and the timings if you are an obsessive overclocker.

I've been able to push my Opteron 144 @ 1.80 GHz to 2.60 GHz, on air!

Maybe try one of the Gigabyte K8NF9-Ultra or K8N Ultra-9 boards. Packed with features, according to reviews stable, good OC and passive, silent cooling. Plus very affordable, especially the first variant.
