<< You give me $50-100k and I can build up a 1992 mustang to beat the hell outta almost anything. Heck, I could prolly do it for about $30,000 if you do not count paintwork. Stroked 302 to 347 cubes, Vortec supercharger with an air cooler (forgot what they are called) BW T56 6-speed, many many suspension mods, reduce weight by yanking the backseat. I am too tired to list it all. Heck, I could do it to a '65 fastback given enuf time. And then it would even LOOK good. >>

Why even bother? Just get a '01 Mustang Cobra R and be done with it

AHAHAHAHA....AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA....*wiping tears from eyes*

First the mentioning of a souped up 240SX(Skyline)...now being serious about tweaking a '92 Mustang....AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA(Picture Gary Coleman)....sigh....Whatchoo talkin 'bout Willis(again picture Gary Coleman).

That's absurd. More absurd than my, Modify a Corvette message...tee he. And my message was absurd, unless....nah. It's more absurd

Sorry, I don't mean to be mean...but we're talking about Best all-around...which means, being able to talk to your extremely gorgeous companion(a $100K will get you these), without screaming. Not only that, but not jarring your passenger to death on a simple 2 mile drive to the groceries. Also...fearing for your life when you're doin 60MPH on a relatively tight turn...doesn't not qualify a car for the Best-Around sports car title. This is why the cars here are cars much salivated over, in their STOCK form. Modifying them, should be done in moderation. With a Mustang? Why don't you just make a car from scratch? Live rear axle's...BAH!

If I had $10,000, I could make an '89 Ford Festiva kick all ya'lls car's butts. Honest to god, Terwilliger, over on Slimpickens Rd, has a nice one fer only $400. He put about 100 Benjamins into that car...smart man.

The 'Vette still wins because it is much easier for the average driver to be able to drive it at its limits. Not so for a '911, and anybody who says otherwise has never drive a '911 at its limits.

And NFS4, you are wrong about no Mercedes ever being a sports car. Have you forgotten about a "certain gull-winged model" ? I think you must have ...

Time to defend Aus.

<< In Australia, do you have the lush mountains of the Rockies as well as the wide open spaces of Colorado? I think not...that's why so many manufacturers come to Colorado for high altitude testing. >>

Australia's equivalent of the Rockies are the Blues Mountians, and as for the wide open spaces of Colorado you just need to go to the desert. In some part of the Northern Territory and Western Australia the highways have no speed limit, because if you stuck to it would probably take most of a day to get from one town to another. But that can be very scary as a road train coming at you at around 150mph, you in a decent car moving towards it at about 130mph. wwhhhhoooosssssssshhhhhh

I would love a v8 supercar http://www.v8supercar.com.au/2000gallery/rnd7/lgeimg/Lowndes-2.jpg but they cost around $350,000 , but i guess it could be classed as a sports car

Denver is 5,280FT above Sea Level. Most of the good rounds in the rockies, 10,000ft. Flat, wide open driving spaces, are only a few miles away from the mountains. Colorado is one hella place to drive. So is California

You aussie's have a good place too...you also gave the world the bravest little bugga...the Crocodile hunter! He's gonna get seriously hurt one day...

You mean the lovely 300SL? Yeah, that was a different Mercedes back then. But I am talking about the cars that they currently produce, not something from a half century ago

<< What exactly is the Type V for the S2000?
What extras/enhancements does it have?

Is this in the U.S.?
>>

it's like a Type R of the Integra...

from what i understand on the website...

better gearing (is that possible? )
more torque, a different steering wheel like the ones you see in F1..
Type V is more geared/tuned towards to race track..

doubt that we'll see it here though

NFS4...ok, the Viper is the only really good American car to stand out (corvettes are ok too) I just like how the japs and germans can use such small engines and produce such great, fast cars... your Porsche 911 is an example of that, aswell as many Ferraris. Thats real engineering. Oh, and I never compared the WRX or Skyline to the Viper at LeMans.. thats crazy. Its like saying put the Viper in the World Rally Championship... even you know that the Lancer Evo and WRX would crap all over it simply cause they are rally cars, and have the handling to go with it.

Hey crYnOid : gotta love the HSV GTS 300kw.... I drove a Clubsport 185, and that was a nice car... lots of balls. The 300kw would be an animal.

Oh and NFS4, have you heard of the TVR Super12? Thats one quick car... 0-60 mph in 2.3 seconds... fark

But this kit car is stupidly fast.

Anyways it isnt a sports car, its more of a supercar, its worth absolute sh#tloads... and its definately doesnt fall into this category. Still thought I might mention it , cause I was impressed with it when I saw it at the motor show in Melbourne

<< anyone mention lotus. >>

The Lotus Elise may be the best handling car in the world right now, but it comes in at around $35,000. It's a sweet car.

The Lotus M250 is also one bad ass looking ride. It is soooooo beautiful and is based on the Elise chassis with a mid-mounted V6. High 4's to low 5's in 0-60 is what I hear.

Forget that old bag of bones Esprit. That damn thing is pushing 30 years old. At least the 911 aged gracefully in its 30 years before the 996, but the Esprit still looks like a wedge of cheese to me. Its only saving grace is that 350HP V8.

The Lotus Elise would be one of my top choices also.
Although a Viper or Skyline would be nice...I like my light cars!!!

Hey if your looking for the best allaround sports car that has a nice ride and waste anything else priced within 100 Grand get a Hardtop vette and get a Linferter Stage 2 Turbo kit put on it

About 45,000 for the car nicely equiped
then about 35 for the modifications
It gives you over 500 HP and is still very drivable.

Lotus Elise...ah....you really think you can get one for only $35,000. That's ludicrous. My friend's dad says that with hot cars like that...the Dealerships can mark up virtually as much as they want. He's heard of some Honda dealerships selling the new S2000s for more than $45,000. I still want one though

Millenium,

I know that the new mustang cobras have independent front and rear suspensions...but the '92s don't. That's what I was talking about.

DLC,

If the Viper's okay in YOUR book...the New ZO6 better GREAT. Coming in at only $50,000(cheap when you see the stats) you get:

385HP in a 3126lb body.
0-60 in 4.3
1/4 mile: 12.7@113mph.
70-0mph braking in: 152ft(WOW!)
300ft skidpad: .98g
Fuel Economy: 17MPG. That's stellar for a car with supercar performance.

The new Zo6 has it all, except the good looks of the hatchback version of the Corvette. I love this car

Paul

DLC: The HSV GTS 300kw is the car of my dreams until HSV bring out the HSV Monaro GTS that is That will be the hottest car in Australia for years as ford stuck it's head up its butt years ago and now can't get it out as it is a total tight arse (Ford AU is very suck!)

That's it, forget the $100,000 limit. I'll take a Bugatti EB110-SS thank you. When it hits 60 mph in 3.35 seconds, everything else just frails. True, it costs about 10 times the $100,000 limit, but it'll beat any of the cars listed so far. (=

And if you're gonna go w/ Mercedes, go with the Renntech CLK GTX, 620 hp, 0-60 in 3.4.

Otherwise, leave me alone w/ 2000 Porsche 911 Turbo (110,000 . . . but pay in cash and you should be able to bring it down to the 100,000 mark). (=

That is just a computer generated picture. Nothing more than a widened and lowered GT3. Also, if it is going to be out in 3 years, why does it still have the old style front headlamps? All Carreras will be switching over to the Turbo lights next year to better differentiate it from the Boxster.

I want to see some "real" pics

crYnOid - Yep, Ford sucks ass... their AU looks so sh#t. How much better is the VT? Only Ford id consider is XR8, of course, I drove my friends and totally whipped this Hyundai Excel of the line, no match really but it was so fun to smoke up the tires and clean him up so hard. My friend was doing fishtails with 3rd gear up my street, cool. Man, and the Monaro... ohh I saw it at the Melbourne Motorshow (of course a full size model.. no engine) and it looked SOOO good... a commo with two doors looks mad. Until then just have to do with the GTS 300kw...
