Neither car would be driveable on public roads, so that point is mute. 1000HP = keep it on the drag strip, or be prepared to launch into the Ford Excursion ahead of you.

As for fuel economy. It DOESN'T MATTER. Fuel economy is NOT an issue with 1000HP. Regardless of which car you use (Viper of Skyline), you're looking at single digit MPG figures.

Im talking about stock gas millage... not the 1000hp.. whoah those babies would drink like theres no tommorrow!!!!

Man as for those Civics u mentioned, they would be totally undrivable!!! And sh#t off the line too, cause the front wheels would spin like animals... no traction. My friends Celica, old and slow compared to the competition here, spins the front wheels all the time... so those 500hp ones would be a joke... heheh Why waste their money huh?

Moving away from our Skyline discussion,

"The Skyline didnt beat the "unoffical" RUF Porsche fastest speed in the world record, just missed out by a few miles per hour."

Didn't McLaren F1 get the latest speed record?

-edit-
And check out the pictures I took in Japan last christmas.

I was just trying to make a point. You can get mondo horsepower out of just about any decent engine if you dress it up enough

NFS4,

Bah...if the C5 looks like the Mazda RX-7, then the C4 does as well. The C5 is just a newer C4, with some tributes to the old Corvettes. Like those door scoopes, the fender flairs. Bah....

IMO, the new 911 Turbo is one helluva wicked looking car. The 993 looks badass as well...but there's nothing like the feeling of parking one's econocar next to the fastest accelerating car in america. Sigh...it was embarassing

Umm no, the C4 has nothing stylistically similar to the C5 except for the general shape, greenhouse shape, and quad taillamps.

I'm talking detailing. You make it seem as though they are carbon copies.

When I say general shape, I mean the profile. The 996 has the same general profile/shape of the 993 but they are two TOTALLY diffent designs. Get my drift?

The C4 is all flat surfaces and sharpe edges. The C5 is more organic and curvy like the RX7.

When the Skyline gets a real body, I may come crawling...

Right now, the Skyline plays Ellen DeGeneres to the Porsche 911's Heide Klum

F40...we can all agree THAT is a kick ass car. The epitome of exotic...and a car that envelopes itself in greatness. A tribute to Enzo...and Enzo go to see it. With this Ferrari...you don't just pay for the name...you pay for a cargasm

The C5 Vette looks like a blending of all the older Vettes, I recall hearing it stated several times upon the launch of the third gen RX7 that it looked like a Vette wannabe.

The rear end was designed by the laws of physics, lowest possible drag. The McLaren certainly won't win any beauty contests, but I think we can all appreciate its' design.

NFS4-

"The 3rd generation RX7 has a style of its own. Everyone griped about the C5's styling when it came out and nearly every automotive group declared it a direct rip of the RX7. The RX7 is a distinctively round shape while the C5 take the RX7 and puts a little "edge" to it. Just look at the shape of the doors and the side mirrors. The headlamp covers like I mentioned above are a mirror image. Other styling "donors" I've heard according to automotive mags include:"

The third gen RX7, as good as it is, is one the most blatant rip offs of car design ever as far as body lines, though it shares much more with older Vettes then it does with the current C5. For another good rip off check out the front end of a '68 Stingray compared to a F360, it isn't just close. The current Vette copies older Vettes, as many other car manufacturers including Ferrari now seem to try(first thing I thought of when I saw the front end of a 360 was '68 Stingray).

The "slats" on the doors or dents or whatever you want to call them that were supposedly inspired by the 3000GT made their debut Edit forty three years ago(Ben can't add tonite)/Edit on the '57 Vette. The front end of the Vetter looks a lot more like the C4 then any other car, only the parking lights resemble a Firebird, and when that car launched people said that looked like a Vette wannabe.

Oh...one more thing about the Corvette being a bloated sports car. Eh...it's big...but it still kicks ass at Sebring I know that the cars that perform at Sebring and LeMans are race cars based on their street counterparts, but they're huge and they still dominate With size, you receive grip. With grip you shave off crucial seconds wasted in other cars that are all over the road/track. The Corvette doesn't bite you in the ass if you make a mistake, unlike other supercars. That's what makes the Corvette so great The Viper? Eh...at least it's not as big as the Diable SE.

The more and more we talk about cars, the more and more the Corvette is starting to show itself as the better car, regardless of what the Boss and his henchmen(okay, I'm exaggerating) have to say. Still Anand...I want to be your friend. You gotta sister?

Oh yea...Mike Andrawes...I've HEARD Porsche 911 Turbo, from RS America, to the 996 Turbo...I've heard them all(customers have 911s, and I live by a Porsche dealership). Even the lovely DOHC 32 Valve V-8 found in the unsuccessful 928S4 can't hold a candle to the heavenly sounds of the LS-1, especially not the Lotus designed LT-5(ZR-1).

Speaking of 928...now THERE'S a beauty of a GT car if I ever saw one.

LOOOOOVE THAT CORVETE!!

I'm sorry, but I have heard it the other way around my friend Even the dude on that RX7 site that you linked to calls the C5 a rip-off. And why did you link to an ugly RICED up RX7??? :|

As for the side scoops on the older Corvettes vs the RX7 which you call a rip. They look nothing alike. Nothing at all. The design is totally different. Now look at the RX7 and the C5. You can see how similar those two look at the same spot.

If you cut off the roof and side windows and take a snapshot of the RX7 from the leading edge of the hood and pop up lights to the leading edge of the rear wheel well, you will see that the C5 is a 85% copy

Now if you don't see that, well I guess you need to have your eyes checked

Kind of odd that you comment on his taste in observing design and then criticize his design mods isn't it

It was the first link I found for a third gen RX7, if anyone has another one I'll throw it up.

"As for the side scoops on the older Corvettes vs the RX7 which you call a rip. They look nothing alike. Nothing at all. The design is totally different."

Look at the designs for all the generations of Vettes and then blend them. I wasn't bringing that up for comparison to the RX7 btw, that was a design element that has been said was ripped from the 3000GT.

"Now look at the RX7 and the C5. You can see how similar those two look at the same spot."

I don't see it. The only common aspect in that area that I see is the belt line which has always been a very distinct styling cue for Vettes.

"If you cut off the roof and side windows and take a snapshot of the RX7 from the leading edge of the hood and pop up lights to the leading edge of the rear wheel well, you will see that the C5 is a 85% copy"

I do see that, quite nicely, but it also can be said about the '68 hardtop Vette

Have you ever seen them parked next to each other along with a few older Vettes? The styling lines are clear, if you removed all badging and told someone unfamiliar with them that the RX7 was the replacement for the C4 the only thing they may comment on is how much smaller it is. The styling themes used by the RX7 are clearly those of Chevrolet's, certainly not Mazda's.
