Hey, in december i'm gonna renew my old cell phone and want to grab something nice. Was looking at the iPhone but nah, I want an Android.

What is the best Android phone that is released or is gonna release around december?
HTC, Samsung?

Thanks for the help!

We don't know what's going to be around in December.....

Next big phone is going to be the Prime. After that who knows.

Currently the Samsung Galaxy S2 is the best Android phone without contest but it is likely the Galaxy Nexus will dethrone it when it is released in the near future.

What is your carrier? Verizon has the Galaxy Nexus and HTC Rezound and Moto Droid RAZR HD coming soon.

Samsung seems to have the best lineup now and in the near future. As mentioned, there's the Prime in addition to the Galaxy SII already on the market and coming soon is the HUGE Galaxy Note that I have my eyes on. And, going into the next year we may see the SIII.

I had a HTC EVO 4G until it was stolen a couple months back but given HTC's poor reputation with respect to battery life and a product line that hasn't kept up with Sammy I'd have to say that HTC has to prove itself before I'd recommend them again.

I have two Sammy products I'm likely to buy when they become available: in addition to the Note I think I'll also snag the Galaxy Tab 7.7.

I'd say the HTC Amaze is better than the Galaxy S2.
How is the Sensation rehash better than the SGS2?

OP: What carrier are you with? By December, a few top phones, most notably the next Nexus and HTC Vigor should go on sale and some others might show up in time for the holiday sales.

I'd say the HTC Amaze is better than the Galaxy S2.

In what way? The S2 has a faster CPU and better camera (megapixel <> better). It also has a longer battery. The only thing the Amaze has is a higher resolution, which IMO isn't a worthy sacrifice for losing the SAMOLED+ Screen of the S2. Now there are preference differences, like UI, which I understand. But I can't see many ways the Amaze is better.

Well with Tmobile at least, they have the same processor. In fact, they are basically identically aside from the screen. I'd rather have the higher-res qLcd sqreen then a lower res samoled screen. Reviews seem to say the screen on the Amaze is better when you compare both devices. Everything I read also indicates that the Amaze camera is better - where do you see that the S2 camera is better?

I don't have either device.. I was going to get the S2, then decided the Amaze was better, than decided to just stick with my current phone.

I'm with Telus and I know they keep HTC and Samsung line ups.

The Samsung phones look like it's the way to go and the Nexus is really tempting.

OEM's would want to push some phones for the holiday season so check back in a month or so, if there are other phones in the pipeline for December, they will be revealed by then.

I would actually say they both have good cameras. I am amazed HTC finally put in a good camera however I love HTC, but they have never been one known for their camera. I also forgot we are discussing 2 T-Mobile phones in which case yeah the T-Mobile S2 is lacking compared to the rest of the S2s. Looking at photos from both, my only complaint is it looks like the HTC has more color than normal making it look a bit off to me.

The HTC Amaze and Galaxy S II will be available to you on Telus in a few weeks.

Due to playing and ROM development, I favour the HTC. I love my Desire HD.

Camera? The optics from even a budget digital will rule a phone. Photos taken with a phone are for novelty. On these phones the differences are minuscule and if one wishes to debate them then keep a compact digital camera at hand.

You can currently go to ATT, Sprint, and TMo to try out their SGS2 variants to see if you like them, and how they feel.

But certainly wait until the Prime is officially announced and made available before making any decision.

Oh right--you're in Canada, whoops. There ill be much more info for you to chew on within the next few weeks, but I imagine the top of your list should be populated with Prime, SGS2, and Vigor.

Not sure if the SGS2 LTE has real plans for being released on this side of the ocean any time soon--if ever, but that might be worth considering, if such is useful to you. (personally, I think the 4.65" screen is, indeed, too big for a phone--that might not be an issue with the Prime's curved glass, but it's one of those things you have to try out first).

I think the MyTouch 4G slide (maybe all MyTouch 4G?) is still considered one of the best smartphone cameras anywhere, right? that is HTC, and has been around since June, at least?

Mmmm it is decent but not great. It didn't beat the Galaxy S it surely won't beat the S2 or iphone. HTC is getting better though, they used to SUCK hard for cameras.

Although it's not as stunning as the Samsung Vibrant, the handset's 5-megapixel auto-focus camera manages to take some average looking photos. In sunny conditions outdoors, it produces some neutral levels of detail that should suffice, but clearly lacks any distinct sharp lines. Thankfully, color reproduction is rather good with its ability to process natural looking tones that aren't overly too saturated – while still offering a distinct difference between identical color gradients. In lower lighting conditions, the overall appearance of the images slightly diminishes as it offers less detail and bland looking colors. However, the LED flash actually does a good job in capturing photos as colors look more vivid with a little bit more sharpness to them. But it's a hit or miss mark as the handset attempts to auto-focus in complete darkness without the aid of the flash turning on for a bit. Nonetheless, the myTouch 4G's photo taking capabilities should appease the casual point and shoot users.

probably the galaxy nexus in one way or the other if you want android. it loses in some features but if you want the stock android if thats important then its probably the best.

you will be able to get it on verizon soon and the international one is pentaband so i'm sure itll beimportant or released on the GSM carriers. i guess on sprint you'd be out of luck.

I always found the Samsungs to have a very cheap plasticky feel. I still ended up buying the SGS2X and I'm happy I did. I actually find that the handset feels very high quality, feels good holding it - the back is sort of textured so it's not slippery which is a very nice touch.

IMO you really can't go wrong with this phone, but I'm somewhat biased since I upgraded from a really crappy dumbphone.

The upcoming devices will trounce the SGS2 for sure but the difference will be negligible compared to dumbphone vs SGS2, so it really depends what you're upgrading from and if you're willing to wait a bit or not.

yeah i am a little afraidof getting a galaxy nexus because of this. i've had mostly HTC phones and though they tend to be bigger / heavier, they feel a lot more heavily built/expensive.

had a vibrant for a while on t-mobile and it was fine, but it felt cheap.

g nexus feels much closer to an htc phone in the hand than the plasticky feel of the first galaxy s phones.
