I just saw the commercial for the new Apple Seed Ex Machina or whatever it is, and it looked good. That doesn't look like what I thought Anime was, but thats okay.
I "acquired" it... it was in English and I just turned it off. So I have no idea if it's good or not.

I recommend "School Days"
I accidentally watched a little bit of this when I meant to watch Today in Class 4-2 (I forgot the title lol). It seemed kind of decent and I'll probably watch it as school animes tend to be fun.

kenshin (first 2 arcs only)
The Amakusu Shougo arc was alright too. But once they got to the German Black Dragon Knights, I just stopped watching it (around episode 75-ish). But if you want good Kenshin stuff, just skip the opening and skip right to the Kyoto Arc. You'll skip some of the funny, goofy stuff, but you get straight into the serious fights against Shishio Makoto and the Juppongatana.

HELLSING (one of my favorite)
For the love of baby Jesus, do not watch the normal Hellsing anime. They completely slaughtered the manga to the point where only the first 5 or so episodes actually follow the story. If you want the real Hellsing experience, you should watch the new Hellsing OVA that's being released by Geneon. It's currently at Episode 4 and is progressing decently. It follows the manga for the most part as you'll get to see Alucard vs the Nazi battalion Millennium!

I'm ashamed to say, I actually got into Initial D as well.
Nothing wrong with that. I'm quite the avid Initial D fan (if you've read the scanlated manga, my username may look a tad bit familiar... hence why I'm a fan). The series uses eurobeat music which is quite good (in my opinion). I found the series to be a bit fun and light-hearted at the same time where as Wangan Midnight ( another famous racing series ) bored me to tears.

Naruto, once you get past the kiddy stuff in the beginning and get to the real intense parts.
It's too bad Kishimoto doesn't know what the hell he's doing anymore.

If you want a good series for now, "Gundam 00" is a great start.
What in God's name? NO Gundam fan would recommend Double-Zero. It's so fucking boring.

Peace Maker Kurogane is another one in the same historical Japan era. Fun to watch, lots of action.
PMK was kind of fun, but it got a bit weird at points. Don't mess with the pig .

Whenever the show finally stops. I hated being jerked around for 3 ep's per fight. I stopped after ep 60 or so.
Good luck waiting for that . Based on some crude in-the-head calculations, I'd say there's maybe 60-80 more episodes before they're caught up to the manga's
current-as-of-today position. This is based on how bad the anime has been prolonging things in the past 5-10 episodes.

not sure. i only saw the first set of 19 eps. or so?
was bummed that they didn't develop some of the characters more (the priest for instance).
There's only 13 episodes of the TV series for Hellsing. Also, if you want to see more of Anderson (the priest from the Iscariot XIII organization), watch the new OVA.

I surprised no one has mentioned Bleach yet. I thought it was great. They hit a filler gap for a while, but last I saw they were back on track.
Bleach is alright at this point and they haven't gone completely south in the manga like Naruto has. I actually can't wait to go home and get the latest chapter (usually released on Fridays) to see what happens :Q!

Full Metal Panic is a good series. Season 1 was mediocre, season 2 had some of the best comedy, and season 3 had great action
Fumoffu was by far the best one. It's what the manga was like (hence why it was good)... the light-hearted, humorous type.

Yakitate Japan was cool (it's a comedy about breadmaking, so might not be for everyone ).
Yakitate is pretty good overall. I kind of stopped reading it at one point though... really need to pick it back up!

Ahh, it makes me sad that bleach was only mentioned twice, .
Bleach is one of my favorite Anime shows right now, the fight scenes and the witty banter are what makes the show.
One thing I tend to rate a manga/anime by is how easy it is for me to choose a "favorite character." Bleach is one of the few animes where I have absolutely no favorite character. The only one I remotely like is Nel ( *spoiler* especially when she goes back to her normal form  *spoiler* ). Although, I have gotten more into Byakuya after watching the series again (I never watched most of the Seireitei arc because I read that in the manga). His cocky attitude tends to amuse me, but he doesn't hold a dear place in me heart like Rock Lee does!

One Piece, it has everything...
My favorite shonen series of all time. Beats the pants off Bleach and Naruto and all those others by far. The series has almost every emotion you could ask for in it, but I highly recommend you do not watch the English version unless you want to hate the series.

Dot Hack Sign - best music in an anime I've heard, it goes really well with the show.
It does have a great soundtrack . The World is one of my favorite songs from an OST along with Key of the Twilight. Naruto actually has a pretty good soundtrack as well as Prince of Tennis.
