Best antivirus for gaming?

I game a lot, single player and also online. I usually online game on MMO's or on STEAM type games (Like COD4, counter strike, etc). I also currently use AVG Free for my anti-virus. I'm wondering though, if anyone knew of a possibly better anti-virus that is well designed for online gamers so it won't bog down our systems?

While we use NOD32 on our Primary box, we use AntiVir free on our 2nd and 3rd boxes, works great.
Make sure to follow this guide to turn off the pop-ups in the free version.

For gaming, I think you're best off with a really good personal firewall and Host IPS. Try Comodo.

Why do you need resident virus protection?

Install legit games and use scanners on files you do not trust. No resident virus scanner = no slow down no matter what antivirus you use.

I've only been using it for a few days, but switched from PC-Cillin, and Norton's using much fewer resources even in normal mode than PC-Cillin did. It's got a special Gaming Mode that you can enable on demand (for a set amount of time...up to 6 hours) that disables anything that could be disturbing/resource intensive (you can configure how much to disable, including real-time protection), and it's like playing with nothing (and automatically re-enables itself after the time limit so you can't forget). I'm pretty impressed. They've got a free 15-day trial if you want to give it a go.

I would get Malwarebytes and Sygate Firewall, or just get Kaspersky, or NOD32
