My cousin donated me viruses when he came over last weekend. Removed DNS unlocker one but I am still not sure.

Which anti-virus would be good for full computer scan?

Config

Intel 4440
7200RPM Seagate Baracudia 7.12
8 GB Single Channel RAM
Windows 7 64bit.

Please recommend. Thanks in advance!

I like the free version of Avast. It gives you an option to do a boot time scan where it scans the computer before it's entirely booted up.

Your best bet at this point would be to scan the whole computer with a live CD. Many anti-virus makers have them. Check out Bitdefender Rescue disk or create one large boot disk with Sardu. http://www.sarducd.it/rescue-cd-antivirus.html

http://www.bitdefender.com/support/how-to-create-a-bitdefender-rescue-cd-627.html

After you scan the computer I would go to Bleepingcomputer and use ADwcleaner, TDsskiller, and Junkware removal tool.

Freefixer could help you as well, but you need to research each driver, DLL, etc that you think is suspicious before removal.

And the grand daddy of them all would be Herdprotect which uses 68 virus scanning engines. But it will take a very long time to scan and has to be done twice I guess.

I believe all the major antivirus companies offer fully functional free trials of their products. No reason you can't try them all. Personally, for paid products I like Kaspersky.

That being said I find it easier to wipe the drive and start over from scratch. I would never trust an infected system even if some AV software said the system was clean.

Update::

Avast caused a lot of problems. Blue Screen of Deaths(due to Internet TCP conflict), unnecessary unwanted plugins and third party shields installed without my consent.

Installed Microsoft Essential.

NO! You don't want MSE. It's just a baseline scanner! Try Bitdefender Free at least.

Avast got to be a cluster F so I got rid of it years ago.

Many free programs including antivirus's are bundled with adware, you have to slow down and read the eula page which usually has a checkbox opt-out to not install geekbuddy, browsers, searchtools, opencandy etc.

Scan your pc with a livecd (Bitdefender/Kaspersky/Avira and some others are good) like what Connor said above. I assume you're going to a install an AV to help avoid infections in the future. And its better to not use an administrator account for daily use or give it out to others.

As a general anti-virus, take a look here: chart.av-comparatives.org/chart1.php

Take notice that you have some filters there, they might be useful for you.

Also, don't forget to perform a full scan with Malwarebytes.

You never tried loading a normal anti-virus on a netbook? LOL

Avast I found to always slow down my Internet connection. I did a speed test before and after turning on the web shield or what ever it was called.

NO! LOL It's hell removing it! You have to use their registry tool! Just for the love of good try Bitdefender Free. It's light weight and very robust with good detections. I haven't had any issues with it. Although, I don't use it on my gaming desktop.

I like the Panda Cloud antivirus free one. It works pretty well. Also checkpoint owns and still makes zone-alarm you can add some tight security controls to prevent apps from running without authorization and etc and it has a built in anti-virus as well if you want.
