Best balance transfer CC's available?

I'm looking to transfer and combine a couple higher rate balances to a single card with a low rate. What are some of the best offers available right now? Also, what are some good sites to compare cards with one another? Thanks.

call one of your current credit card companies and ask if they will offer you a low rate for a balance transfer. They will work with you most of the time.

I doubt any of them are going to give me a 0% balance transfer which is what some cards are offering I have considered calling one of my card companies up and telling them I have an offer from another company to move my balance for X% APR and see if they're willing to match it.

I get these in the mail all the time. Have 3 at home right now for 0% for a year. Just call up one CC and say you'll switch cards unless they can help you but that you would be transferring more money to that card if they can.

I just got an offer from Discover for 0% on balance transfers for the life of the balance. The only catch is, I have to make 2 purchases a month on the card, or the rate jumps to 8.9%.

Tempting, but I threw it away. I don't have any signifigant balanaces on my cards

I've used the whole "0% for 12 months" a few times. Usually I just wait until a GOOD offer comes in the mail and I apply for that. Make sure they offer a $0 transfer fee otherwise it kind of defeats the purpose. And pay it off before it's due or I've found they like to compile ALL the interest from the months when you only had to make the minimum payment.

The other thing I did one time was call up discover card and say "I don't like my APR, change it." The fellow said they couldn't actually lower my APR but they could offer me a 6 month 0% APR on all purchases. I thought that was pretty nice considering I had the card for 4 years at that point. Lesson: Call your CC companies and ask for stuff. All they can do is say "no" and that isn't such a big deal.

P.S. I know some of this was "duh" information but plenty of people read these forums that may not know that so I figured I'd just lay it all out.

Oddly enough I usually receive the best cc balance transfer offers via snail mail SPAM.

The best was CitiBank offering 0% balance transfer (no fees) for 18 months.

Any information is good information as far as I am concerned. I wouldn't usually carry any balances, but life such that it is, sometimes throws a curveball or three at you. I think I will call them up and ask them to either lower my apr and/or threaten to move my balances elsewhere. I've been paying down the balances, but any little bit I can save would make me feel better at this point.
