I love hostgator. They're great, cheap, and I haven't really had a problem with them. Although, I wish I could structure the way it was laid out differently though.
I have had the free AT hosting, which was OK because I didn't know what I was doing at all then and I had no idea how to even do much besides HTML.
I also had Dot5Hosting. Stay. Away. At. All. Costs. They're not good for support, and they're horrible to try to get away from. Seriously. They make me want to cry. BUT they have a pretty slick control panel interface.
I have used SimpleHelix for a Magento site that a client of mine is running, and they're good too.
But Hostgator is good for me. I have about seven or so sites running off of the medium account they offer.
