The best bang for your buck I like: socket A: Duron 1.8 GHz $43, Athlon XP 2700+ $81
socket 754: Athlon 64 2800+ $115, Athlon 64 3400+ 2.4 GHz model $178
the socket 939s, well, I'd wait for the $345 dual core next month

DFI doesn't have a 939 mobo thats AGP, so no venice's for you. I'd recomend a 3000 venice and an Epox 9NDA series mobo.
Avoid that DFI P.O.S. It needs major BIOS work and DFI admitted it's even going to require a new hardware revision (at least one). It will give you nothing but problems in its current state.
Visit the DFI Street Forum and check out the thread about it. It has almost 3,000 replies (!), almost 200 pages (!), and 110,000 views (!) from users seeking answers to problems. It's enough to make you sick
