Best bet for duplicating functionality of my MX Revo...G700?

My MX Revo is dying a slow death after 5 years of faithful service. Charging is a chore and the transmitter range is ~1.5 feet for some reason. At any rate, the obvious replacement would be a Performance MX, but i'm pretty disappointed that they cut down the number of buttons. I'm a casual gamer, but the real advantage to me was having media controls mapped to my revos buttons...the little search button was play/pause, the doc flip wheel was volume, and clicking it in would mute. I don't see any way to accomplish this with the PMX. The G700 may be a little overkill, but my main question is if i will be able to accomplish button assignments like this, outside of the G700's "profiles," IE not application specific. Could any owners give me some insight? Thanks!

As an owner of two MX Revos, I feel your pain. I have a USB extension cord and hub for use with the receivers, and charging is a major pain even though I scrape the oxide off periodically.

Supposedly the PMX does not have either issue, if that means anything... On the other hand, I'm obviously not a big fan of Logitech right now. Has anyone tried the Razer Mamba?

Protip for charging...lick your finger tip and rub it over the mouse contacts. srsly.

Been there, done that.

It seems to help, sometimes... But there's still a good few minutes of adjusting a mouse on the cradle afterwards.

pmx thumb buttons are way too high and too confused for gaming. they really screwed up the design of that thing. but yea i used the thumb wheel for volume, sad that is missing as well.

but mine charges fine.

the front charge cord is interesting, but they should have implemented that along side with a dock, plugging in your mouse is a chore.

normally i bind my tilt wheel to other functions, but the performance tilt has no feedback unlike other logitech mice, kinda ruining the point if you have to mash it hard and still not be sure.

to be honest i use my g9 the most, wired still feels best, and i just use my keyboards multimedia keys for pause/play and volume functions now.

warning on the G700 i have it and it suffers from sensitive surface tracking issues, really unbelieable been at the logitech support forums about it too few people experiencing this but for a 100$ mouse this is unacceptable, i was also coming from an MX Revo. G700 certaintly is the best step up from that, but I would avoid it until logitech does something about this.

you can make the G700 corded right?

It doesn't need to be on the reciever when you plug it in? or is that cord just for power?

Well i cant get off wired products because at my main desk i always clutter my phone next to something.

And when my phone checks email, or i get a phone call / text message, the interference drops all my wireless products for a good couple of seconds.

And i hate lag time. I actually cant tolerate any type of lag on my end.

g9 is corded, the optional corded logitech mice are wireless. they just replaced the charge dock with a jack not my preferred method of charging.
