Best bitter-sweet movies of all time?

You know the type... Movies that border on joyously sad... You know, The Shawshank Redemption is a good bitter-sweet movie but I'm looking for rental recommendations (PLEASE don't just all say shawshank!)... Before Sunrise is another example.... Edward Scissor-hands as well.. Any thoughts?

There is this great English film about a boy's life through the second world war. I can't remember the name of it, help me out here, guys. There's one great scene where he's being taken to school by his grandfather, and like every other kid his age, he doesn't want to go. As they pull up to the school we see its been bombed and all the children are jumping for joy.

definately seconding SLC Punk. Excellent movie.

If your writing a romantic comedy, but dont want it to be the sappy conventional romantic comedy, I suggest you check out A Pyromaniacs Love Story....one of my favorite all time movies.
