Which is the best browser to use?
Please compare only Firefox and Chrome. No other option

With NoScript and Ghostery installed.

I avoid Chrome personally.

Hrmmm, was going to try this for fun but there's not a Linux version. Their website seems very crude and for some reason has images that look like buttons to press but actually aren't, and are just advertisements (or maybe they're just not compatible with Firefox 17ESR?) - lol. So weird.

This, there is no best browser, they're all fast and have good extensions (except IE offcourse)

It comes down to personal preference. I wouldn't use Chrome even if someone paid me to. I hate the notifications icon that Chrome places as if I was running it on a mobile device and I couldn't find anyway to remove that icon. All I saw on the web is you can hide it but I simply don't want it or don't want notifications from my browser.

So there you go, it is a personal preference.

Me personally, here is what I think:

Fastest in terms of page rendering = Chrome (but I can't use it because I don't like it's interface or notifications icon)

Decent speed, better add-ons, better webpage viewing if you had DPI scaling on 125% and abovfe = Firefox

Opera = What's that? :biggrin:

This might be true on a newer or higher end machine or one with lots of ram, but in all my experiences it was laggy and sloppy from all the bloat. I did find a nice alternative using webkit called SlimBoat, though it looks like they're focusing on "SlimJet" now which uses the blink engine and doesn't seem as light... bleh.

I stopped using Cyberfox for the following reasons:

1) They cannot get a proper updater built into the browser, they rely on an external tool which is very stupid to check for updates then it needs to download the update separatrely doesn't update automatically like Firefox or Pale Moon

2) The browser is no different than Firefox other than the fact that it has the Classic Theme Restorer built in, but then the browser needs to heavily be modified in order to make it look like the old FF 28 and earlier so why use it? Just use FF and modify it yourself ensuring all add-ons work and all pages render correctly.

3) They allowed a company on their forums to post a browser backup tool which contained malware and ad-ware and they did nothing about it

4) They now host their browser on SourceForge as well which is one of the biggest malware injecting sites. So I cannot trust them with me data anymore even though they have a local download on their servers. They started off great, then started doing dodgy things.

I'm using Pale Moon. I do have Cyber and Chrome as well, but use Pale Moon exclusively. Cyberfox is much like the Firefox/Chome copy cat crap with the addon bar being stupid.

Vivaldi and Otter Browser (when Otter switches to QTWebengine) - both browsers do not bow down to Google's minimalism concept which they have enforced to both Opera and Mozilla Firefox. Vivaldi and Otter will never sell out in such a way.

Why even ask this question when you already have an opinion on the matter? I use different browsers for different tasks and I use safari exclusively when interacting with my netgear router as it's the only one that allows the gui to function properly.

For me it depends on the Hardware/software /Os you have,on some machines/OS Firefox sucks on others Chrome sucks,for example i have an intel5 with ati card and on some streaming sites on Chrome i can't get full screen on the same site as firefox, but on firefox is all good

I keep bouncing between PCXFirefox and Lawlietfox. I don't use Chrome, only Vivaldi if I need to use the Chrome engine. On a lot of clients' systems they'll have IE and Chrome and I will choose Chrome but FF is where the heart is.

I prefer to run portable versions of applications when possible, Chrome can't auto update in it's portable form, it's installed form also must be either in the users profile which is simple horrific for so many reasons and the business edition can only install into C : Program files, no way to divert it to another drive or directory.

Chromes group policies are also a joke, they took away the ability to control so many things like even setting a homepage unless the machine is joined to a domain.. it ignores all local group policies. I've stumped the Chromium devs multiple times on their forums and all I get is "That is the way we are going"
