Best budget MoBo and RAM combo for an E4300 @ 3.0ghz???

I am looking to spend about $600 on a new cpu, mobo, ram, and GPU.

The only thing I know for certain is that I want to go with a dual core e4300, and would like to overclock it as much as the stock HSF will allow, which I gather is around 3.0ghz (FSB333x9). Because of the high multiplier and low FSB speed, I assume that I can get away with a pretty cheap mobo and ram set-up.

Can anyone suggest some mobo and ram combos that would allow me to run an overclocked e4300 at stable levels?

S3 + this + E4300 comes out to around $485... use the extra money to buy a $60 Tuniq T-120 Tower (the best air cooling in existence at the moment).

That little setup will fetch an easy 3.6GHz, assuming the processor can go that high.

what GPU were you planning on getting? what resolution do you game at?

i guess the cheapest an overclockable core2duo setup would be is about 58 + 180 (AsRrock 775Dual-VSTA + E4300). You could either get some DDR2-533 ram thats overclockable, or go with DDR2-667 instead and not have to worry about overclocking it -- especially since they're most likely the same price, hehe.

How about something like this:
$179 - Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 Allendale 1.8GHz 2MB L2 Cache
$108 - Gigabyte GA-965P-S3 Socket T (LGA 775) Intel P965 Express
$100 - G.Skill 1GB (2x512MB) DDR2-800 F2-6400CL5D-1GBNQ
$165 - His Hightech H195PRF256DDN-R Radeon X1950PRO 256MB ($175 - $10MIR)
=========
$552 + tax and shipping (after rebates)

Or... if you don't need that much GPU power, go with 2GB of ram ($200) and a 7600GT ($100) if you can find a bit more cash (~$50+).

Assuming I don't want to go any higher than 3.0mhz, any suggestions on a single gig of cheaper ram and no cooler, allowing me to throw in a ~$200 video card?

EDIT: For Oblvion, what's better, 2gigs ram and a 7600, or 1gig of ram and a x1950 pro?

I don't do any photo editing, etc, so I only need the ram for the occassional game of oblivion. My LCD's native resolution is 1024 by 1280, so I'd like to use that.

EDIT: For Oblvion, what's better, 2gigs ram and a 7600, or 1gig of ram and a x1950 pro?

I posted without seeing this list...I think this is what I would like to go with...what's the cheapest 667 capable ram that I can get?

Thanks for the help.

3MHZ? I think you mean 3GHZ, but anyway for Oblivion go with a gig of ram and an X1950pro.

Thanks everyone, looks like I will go with the:

$179 - Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 Allendale 1.8GHz 2MB L2 Cache
$108 - Gigabyte GA-965P-S3 Socket T (LGA 775) Intel P965 Express
$100 - G.Skill 1GB (2x512MB) DDR2-800 F2-6400CL5D-1GBNQ
$165 - His Hightech H195PRF256DDN-R Radeon X1950PRO 256MB ($175 - $10MIR)

One more question though; do you think a Ultra 500w V-Series PSU will be adequate for this setup?

I wouldn't recommend an Ultra PSU, I went with a 450watt Fortron and I'm really happy with it.

But could I get away with it (I already have on in my current case)?

You could probably get away with it, but I'd change it as soon as some funds free up.

Yeah, then go for it, but I would recommend changing it eventually. Not all Ultra PSUs are that bad though, I guess it depends on the specific PSU you get.
