In n out is about the most overrated. Five guys is overrated but 'good'.

Carl's Jr. is better for a chain. Sonic has about the worst burgers.

IMO, Five Guys > In n' Out...

But it's important to note that In n' Out is competing with McDonalds & the like (much lower price point), and at that level/weight-class it destroys the competition.

Sonic is funny. If they open a new one, they make fantastic burgers. Crispy buns, everything is laid out perfectly, good flavor.

Then after they run for a year or so everything goes down hill.

On the upside, Sonic has a fantastic Chicago dog.

In N Out double double animal style, hold the salt, x2 + Stone IPA = Dinner.

I think Whataburger has the best fast food chain burger. Too bad its only in Texas area.

Yup, I have one 1/4mi from my house, when it first opened it was great then slid downhill to the point it closed. Now it's open again, "under new management", I'm still leery to try it and there is a Wendy's close by so I just go there, I wish in and out would open some stores around here but I don't see that happening anytime soon..

Speaking of Wendy's, I don't know what they did to their food in the last year or so, but their burgers are now freakin' fantastic. The stores they renovated into a "bistro" type them are kicking ass. It's become my favorite fast-food stop.

Steak 'n Shake better then all of them.

I can honestly say I have never had a good meal at Steak and Shake. They use 2oz patties with a big hole in the middle, which is like eating a bun-burger, their toothpick-sized fries are frustrating to eat, and it's a bit overpriced for what you get (plus you have to tip the waitress). They do have great milkshakes though.

I can list some local eateries and chains that have burgers way better than 5 Guys or even In N Out Burger. It might have something to do with having regular access to fresh beef in this area.

As far as a chain fast food restaurant goes, I love Mighty Fine burgers way more than 5 Guys or In N Out.

That was a funny auto-tuned video though.

Yea, the Monterrey chicken is a deal for $1.40, it's a real breast too not a formed Pattie (which is typical for low price chicken sandwich)..

I hate their crappy dry and crunchy bacon. I think I managed to stab my gums and bleed due to that shrapnel. Also, if you like your burgers sans veggies/toppings, the sizes are not a good value compared to other pseudo-chain places.

Sonic is hit or miss on burgers... I don't like their ice cream...it's got a weird aftertaste.

Diet Cherry Limeades during happy hour are a favorite when I can make it there between 2-4pm.

Chicago dogs are good at Sonic, but around here they consistantly hit it with too much celery salt. I once got one that was covered in the stuff. I'm fortunate to have a Chicago Dog specialty shack that sells Vienna Beef dogs and does everything right....they serve all their hotdogs with shoestring fries and a $5.50 combo is actually filling enough that one dog & fries makes for a satisfying lunch. More expensive than Sonic, but far better product....Sonic just has better hours.

Their bacon was probably rendered, which is the way I cook it (and like it). When frying the bacon, you squirt some water on it and let it fry. The water renders the fat from the bacon, leaving mostly meat solids. When the water evaporates it leaves a tasty, light, and crunching strip of bacon.

Squirting water on the bacon in our house would cause everything to splatter and probably cause a grease fire. When you cook a package of bacon, you don't drain the fat from the cast iron pan until complete.

It's hilarious that 90% of the posters here didn't watch the video and are just posting about burgers.

WATCH THE VIDEO, PEOPLE!!!!!!

Fuck no. Their burgers were actually quite flavorful and cooked well, but the bacon was small dry square-shaped flakes that had the crunch of breakfast cereal. It was so obtrusively cheap I had to remove it from the burger. Literally no better than imitation bacon used in dog treats (yes, I've tried a lot of my dog's food before). I've considered going there again, but I definitely won't waste any money on their worthless bacon.

EDIT: ps I didn't watch the video if that makes a difference.

Look at the price per pound of those dog treats like beggin bits. Costs more than real bacon. My dogs prefer real bacon; I save money; I can trust the real bacon more than "made in china" treats.

Video was funny: "It comes in a grocery bag!"

Never been to Five Guys, they're opening one here soon so I'll have to try it eventually.

Did try Chick-fil-A for the first time in Atlanta last weekend. I got the spicy chicken sandwich; it was no better than a Wendy's spicy chicken and cost more.
