In n out is about the most overrated. Five guys is overrated but 'good'.
Carl's Jr. is better for a chain. Sonic has about the worst burgers.
anybody actually watch the video? this isn't really about how good their stuff is. It's just a funny video.
Sonic is funny. If they open a new one, they make fantastic burgers. Crispy buns, everything is laid out perfectly, good flavor.
Then after they run for a year or so everything goes down hill.
On the upside, Sonic has a fantastic Chicago dog.
Yup, I have one 1/4mi from my house, when it first opened it was great then slid downhill to the point it closed. Now it's open again, "under new management", I'm still leery to try it and there is a Wendy's close by so I just go there, I wish in and out would open some stores around here but I don't see that happening anytime soon..
Steak 'n Shake better then all of them.

Speaking of Wendy's, I don't know what they did to their food in the last year or so, but their burgers are now freakin' fantastic. The stores they renovated into a "bistro" type them are kicking ass. It's become my favorite fast-food stop.
I can honestly say I have never had a good meal at Steak and Shake. They use 2oz patties with a big hole in the middle, which is like eating a bun-burger, their toothpick-sized fries are frustrating to eat, and it's a bit overpriced for what you get (plus you have to tip the waitress). They do have great milkshakes though.
hey someone actually watched the video and realized this thread wasn't about burgers.

Their bacon was probably rendered, which is the way I cook it (and like it). When frying the bacon, you squirt some water on it and let it fry. The water renders the fat from the bacon, leaving mostly meat solids. When the water evaporates it leaves a tasty, light, and crunching strip of bacon.

Fuck no. Their burgers were actually quite flavorful and cooked well, but the bacon was small dry square-shaped flakes that had the crunch of breakfast cereal. It was so obtrusively cheap I had to remove it from the burger. Literally no better than imitation bacon used in dog treats (yes, I've tried a lot of my dog's food before). I've considered going there again, but I definitely won't waste any money on their worthless bacon.
EDIT: ps I didn't watch the video if that makes a difference.
Squirting water on the bacon in our house would cause everything to splatter and probably cause a grease fire. When you cook a package of bacon, you don't drain the fat from the cast iron pan until complete.
It's hilarious that 90% of the posters here didn't watch the video and are just posting about burgers.
WATCH THE VIDEO, PEOPLE!!!!!!
