I'm sure they'll let you pricematch with their new price after instant savings, but I don't think they'll let you return/rebuy instantly and get the rebate. If I were you, I'd just wait until Friday morning and get there early.

It doesn't say anything about a return/rebuy, but that's how they have to do it to give you the sale price. BB probably wanted to stop the ads because buying early and then doing a return/rebuy kind of defeats the purpose of getting you in the store. Plus, BB ends up with egg on their face when they don't have enough stock on Friday for those who want the card.

Ooohh.. A newbie. If you wait until Friday, you have a good chance of not getting the card at all. Think of how aweful you will feel if you show up 2 hours early, wait in line in the cold and once you get in the store, the cards are already gone. My advice is to buy 1 now and if you want to play the Friday game, get in line on Friday morning bright and early to get another card. If you don't get a card on Friday, you always have plan b (return/rebuy with your original card) to fall back on.

Also.. If you do plan on getting there early Friday, don't count on the cards being in their usual places. When I went to the Black Friday sale last year at BB, they had the cards up at the upgrades counter. You waited in line and a guy behind the counter handed you your hard drive, video card, RAM, etc.. I'm just saying to look over at the customer service/ computer upgrades counter first before wasting valuable time running back to the computer section.

and the D-link Wireless router does not have any Rebate info ...does that start Fri also..... the reason Im confused is because is a regular sale item ...but does that sale start Fri...???

Here's the deal with the 6am 'til Noon, Friday & Saturday only, Regular Sale differences.

Essentially, "Regular Sale" is not a Best Buy term. Its the way I categorized items that show up in the ad but do not specify a start/end. The ads on the front page (page 1) of the flyer say "6am 'Til Noon" above each little yellow BB tag, the items on the back page (page 12) say "Friday & Saturday" above each little yellow BB tag, and then every other item between those two pages (i.e. pgs 2-11) don't specify a specific validity date. Given the way that Best Buy ads normally work, this means that this ad will be valid from Friday till whenever the next ad comes out.

Last year, the pricematch receipt cause some problem for some people when trying to get the rebate. The safest way is to actually return it, buy it again, with them issuing a new receipt (not a pricematch one). Then again, some people that did the pricematch still get their rebate without a problem, so YMMV.

My guess would be that "regular sale" items begin Friday and end Saturday the next week, i.e. 8 days later. Their usual sale cycle is Sunday to Saturday, so here they're just adding two days to the cycle. I think.

ok, so i'm totally confused about this wd 75gb hd ... i went to best buy today (picked up the ti4200 card ... woot!) and there is no such beast on the shelf or any tag for it. it also does not seem to exist on the 'net anywhere ... now, i guess they could be rolling out some special, crippled drive just for this sale (trying to get rid of junk?) but that seems unlikely to me ... so, is this a typo and it's really an 80gb hd? anybody have any clue? is it worth trying to get to the store friday am to find out?

Yep, I'm still confused on the drive. I don't see how they could possibly have a drive ending in 5 GB with current platter sizes.

Norcent is a company from China. Expect them to invading the US with bunch of "low" price products. But as for the quality, your guess is as good as mine.


And thanks for the awesome post. The memory card looks like a pretty good price, btw I could get the 256mb SD memory card for 116.99 shipped - 30 rebate = 86.99(no tax)

but for this 128mb SD memory its 29.99 straight? and add like 4 dollars tax = 34. Best deal yet. I might even consider waking up at 6 am on Friday just to grab this and maybe also the wireless.

Does the router have regular 100baseT ports too?
