Best Buy 25 TDK 4x DVD+R for $25 after IR

I'm having a problem with Nero as well. It gives me an option of 4x (my burner is 4x), but then it wont let me burn at 4x, it burns at 2.4x saying that "speed of source data is too slow". The burner is reading of a 10,000 rpm WD Raptor. I'm not doing anything else in the meantime.

DVD Decryptor burns at 4.1x for me but as Yobbo said, it only burns ISOs

I would rather burn at 8x since I bought an 8x drive....

The max speed given is from descriptor in firmware by reading the media ID. There is no way around it. Upgrade your firmware to newer or else patch the descriptor on the firmware and flash it yourself.

I'd rather wait for a bit more. If you think about it 4x is around 15 minute burning time. CD is 6-7 times smaller than DVD and takes about 2 minutes to burn a disc. It is not that slow already when you think about the data rate.

Beside, burning it at lower speed may help improve burning quality. I actually burn some of my disks at 2x just to get a better quality. (and hoping that it'll last longer.)

No need to be jealous, the 851S can burn the Ricoh's at 8x too.. There are plenty of hacked BIOS's available for this.

Does CC have Ricoh disks as well?

Just got mine. They are CMC disks listed as 2.4x media :| :| :disgust:

how can TDK sell these as 4x disks when they are actually 2.4x? :| :|
