if you look at the picture they have, which seems to actually be accurate as far as the all the other dimm brands are concerned, it has chips with a big S on it.


these are spectek modules , which are a division of micron technology same as crucial basically.


its $49.99 - $20 mir, and free shipping. there is no instore pickup it seems.

thing (PNY) and it was the elixer chips 7.5 ns decent I guess for $25 delivered. anyone got one of these sticks yet? speed?

Yeah me too. I called Best Buy and rebateshq and they are giving me the run around. They said to fax them teh rebate form. I think that Best Buy screwed this up. Let me know if you have any luck getting this straightened out.

I have seen a number of P3 motherboards that accept ddr. Last year, I had an issue with MSI, and to make things right, they gave me 2 new retail boxed motherboards. Both of them were P3 boards which accepted either sdr or ddr ram. I built two pc's, one for my brother, and one for my mother. I had some spare sdr at the time, so used that, but when ddr was soooo cheap at BB, upgraded each to 512mb of crucial ddr and sold the sdr.

Any real advantage to ddr on this platform? On some benchmarks there was a slight improvement. In the real world, probably not. But since I was able to sell the sdr for more than I paid for the ddr, I thought it was a good move.

Also, I have a "spare" Tualatin 1.2ghz cpu that I am looking to buy a mobo for, and there are Tually based mobo's that accept ddr also.

Yeah, I see $15 on my rebate too. I called the rebate center and the CSR said $15 is the rebate amount. I asked her to check again and she came back with the same answer. I told her that my rebate form says $20 and she didn't know what to say other than, according to her information, it is a $15 rebate. I asked if faxing in my rebate form would help and she didn't give me a straight answer. All she did was give me a tracking number and the fax machine number. I faxed it in...we'll see what happens now.

Actually I've bought this kind of RAM when it was cheap and not had any issues with it. Reptron is also distributed under the K-Byte brand, if that sounds familiar. As for the modules, I've seen some with Infineon chips. Mine has Ace modules - which is a fab in Singapore I think.

msi is crut. now i know why i'm only getting 81 fps in q3 on FASTEST
i'm sticking with store-bought from now on
