Best Buy B&M - Sign for BB card, buy $100, get $25 Gift Card. Also! PNY GF4ti4200 $129, poss $109 from CC after PM w/ BB

I've seen this in two Best Buy's here in Minneapolis (Maple Grove and my excellent compatriot Rapids). Right near the front door, sign for a BB credit card (no cancellation fee), put $100 on it, pay it off, get a $25 gift card in the mail. For shoppers like me, it's basically like getting handed $25, since I know I'm going to be back there again.

Also, Not sure if it deserves a seperate post - Using my new paper version Best Buy card, I picked up a PNY Verto 64MB GF4ti4200 card tonight. $129.99 there - cheapest on Pricewatch (just checked) is $140. Best price / performance ratio I know of on video cards right now, and if I count that (future receipt of) $25 towards it, i got a screaming deal I think.

And many thanks to Jmman who pointed out further down the thread - Circuit City has this card at $169, and then a $20 rebate. So - PM the card to Best Buy, and still get the rebate = $109???

That's not bad. Good for a retail card in a B&M.
I was debating on buying one at CompUSA for $129 after rebate or getting a Gainward on NewEgg for $122 shipped.
I wanted the option of pricematching within 30 days since I'm sure prices will go down.

I just bought the Gainward a couple hours ago (has faster memory), but I probably would have bought the PNY @ BB if I would have known about this since I'm heading to the Twin Cities tomorrow (Burnsville). I would have gotten one right away instead of waiting.

Oh well.

If this was in fact $129 out the door, there are some good deal possibilities. Buy the card at Circuit City for $169 plus tax and there is also a $20 rebate. Come back and pricematch after you buy it and they should refund you $44 or so, so after rebate the card is $105......good deal, if infact BB has it for $129 with no rebates....

Looks like I'll bring it back and get one at CC. 'Cause I'm using my old card again (older 256 DDR DVI). The PNY was DOA it seems. Swapped it a few times, the old one works, that one didn't.

Now I'm sketchy on another one, but I'm sure this was a fluke. (And yes I am careful installing such things). I had been browsing for cards the last few days, and figured getting this for the price was good - it also has S-video out, DVI out, heatsinks on the RAM, blah blah.

best buy is selling it at cost. i bought it earlier today. im going to return it and give my business to circuit city

and when you sign up for the bestbuy credit card, and you choose the optional mastercard credit card, as soon as you pay off your first purchase on that mastercard (i think the min. purchase is $2) you get a $25 gift card by mail.

Remember...that $25 dollars is not really $25 dollars. You have to spend it at their store which has already marked up prices so they're not really giving you $25.

Small correction, and an opinion:

I signed up for the Best Buy card at the customer service desk tonight - just the Best Buy card, NOT the optional, extra credit card which is also an option. And I got the rebate form. So - you do not have to get the extra, optional Mastercard deal (I don't know what that one's about, I just crossed through that part of the form), just the Best Buy card. And I did leave the store with a 25 rebate slip in my hand.

Also, as we A/T savvy shoppers know, you CAN get great deals at Best Buy. You're right, they mark things up. So does every business that sells things to you as far as I know. And if you shop right, you can get as good or better deals there than anywhere else, SOMETIMES. Go ahead and go to Pricewatch tonight for example, show me who has this particular video card for less than this? I tried a few hours ago, you can't. I'm a Newegg kind of guy myself, but sometimes you just want or need things NOW. If you don't like Best Buy, don't shop there, big deal. I think most will agree this is a bargain.

The 25 is icing, since I know I'll be back some day for a printer ink cartridge, something lame like that. I WILL shop there again, so it IS useful. And that 25 is NOT included in anything mentioned in this deal.

How are you going to pricematch? Receipt? Shelf tag? My local CC is pretty anal about using a receipt to PM, for whatever reason, and always asks for a circular.

No deal there. I brought in my Best Buy receipt for the dead one I bought last night, and the PM was only good to $149, with the $20 rebate. Apparently it's a Circuit City rebate, not PNY. Worth a shot though.

Also, I replaced the dead one with the same (model that is) card, and it works fine.

Worked for me.
I have a Best Buy and a Circuit City 3 blocks apart.
Bought at BestBuy for $129.99 + tax
Took receipt to Circuit City and bought the same card for $126.99 (blah, 10% is a lot, isn't it)
Rebate receipt printed out... my eventually total will be $116 after my contribution to fund rich friends of the governor.

my best buy and CC are right next to eachother, across the street. this was my first pricematch and it worked out well. i had the guy call them up. now the problem is installing this darn thing. giving me problems. :|
