Bundle $59.99 I was shocked because on thier site it said $79.99 so i was glad for the $20 off. I get into line and when the lady rings it up the price is $79.99 and i explain that in the back it says differantly so she called the manager over and we went a checked and it said $59.99 same as it did 10 minutes before but i had to pay the full price because it was a stocking error and I call that false advirtising and got a bit upset. Then the lady said that it wasnt her fault but the stocker's fault and i say that i dont care whose fault it is i just want it as the price advisetised in the back so she says that she cant do that and told me either to get out or pay and seeing that im so lazy i paid for it which i probablly should have gone to another store but again to lazy.

Too lazy for punctuation as well, I guess.

the worst experience i had at bestbuy was when I price matched halflife2 to microcenter's price, and used a 1 cent gamer gift card that had a 5 dollar coupon on it walking with HL2 out the door for 30 bucks on the day of release.

Like all retail if the store is clean enough and I only need sales to direct me it's probably okay. If i actually need a saledrone to do something for me... God help me.

I bought my ZV:M from Future Shop(Canadian BB), all I heard from the sales associate that "helped" was "iPod?". Other than that I have lots of friends that work at that store so they don't try to push the CC or the PSP crap.

I only buy loss leaders, price mistakes, and price matches from them to ensure they get a dose of their own medicine. yes, I'm a "devil customer", acording to their classifications.

some past scores:

Denon DHT487DV for $269
30 copies of windows XP for $25 each
dual core notebook for $399
Panasonic 42" HDTV plasma for $599

the list goes on and on.

I wish best buy had a face so I could punch it.

People need to look at this thread and visit bestbuysux.org and read before they shop there again. If people stop shopping there maybe they will finally go out of business soon. Circuit City may have slightly higer prices but atleast they don't treat you like an idiot. At CC if the salesperson cant answer a question they find someone who can. With geek squad and best buy if they can't answer they say something that sounds smart but is just made up. I probably no more about computers then geek squad i know they just make some of the stuff up.

I've had one bad experience where I bought Command and Conquer: Red Alert. I installed it and tried to use multiplayer, but it never worked. Turns out after searching the web was a batch of bad CDs was sent out, and it wasn't error on my side. I tried to return it to Best Buy, and they wouldn't let me. Then they would only let me return it for the same product. Yes, I'd have to return it for the same buggy product! Finally, they returned it after 10 minutes of my Dad and I arguing with them.

Another bad experience happen with my parents. They bought my sister an iPod mini, and the salesperson told them they should get the PSP. They asked what the benefits, and he told them that if the iPod ever gets messed up, you can just return it and they'll give you a new one no questions asked. Of course that isn't true, my sister tried to get a new one when the battery stopped working and she was told it would have to go to Apple for repairs. Basically they lie to sell you anything.

Everyone needs to read this link.
Here is part of it:

"U.S. consumer-electronics giant Best Buy Inc. has a secret Web site that can block customers from getting the lowest prices, a published report said Friday.

A company spokesman who first denied its existence acknowledged it was real after being contacted by the Connecticut attorney general, The Hartford (Conn.) Courant reported.

Best Buy is cooperating fully with the attorney general's investigation, spokesman Justin Barber said.

When in-store customers inform Best Buy sales people of a cheaper price on BestBuy.com, they can be shown an internal Web site, which looks identical to the public Web site but does not always show the lowest price, Attorney General Richard Blumenthal said. "

I like to walk through and look at stuff, but lately there's nothing there that I really need or want. Except maybe a nice lcd tv, but they don't have too many good deals on those.
Haven't really had any bad experiences with them. The one time I had to bring something back was for my girlfriend's Ipod. This was a couple of years ago and I actually bought the extended Best Buy warranty on it. Usually I don't because it's a rip off, but this was a gift and my girlfriend is a little clumsy so I figured if she ever drops the Ipod it'll pay for itself. Well it turns out after about 8 months the battery in it died. I went back to Best Buy and they gave me a brand new one no questions asked. First an only time an extended warranty worked out for me.

Lol, did you read my post? Same thing happened to m sister, but they didn't honor the no questions asked. Seemed like this Best Buy was just needed a little more money that month.

I think CT has the most useful attorney general, even if he is a bit vain.

years ago they were fine with warrenties. no geek squad is here. they no almost nothing. the stuff they do know is wrong. at the store i go to if you want to return anything that plugs in you go to geek squad. they are poorly trained PC techs. so when someone brings anything in the solution all ways is "we will have to ship that out to a service center"

my other problem was i brought laptop in with bad cd drive. get it back with HDD reformated and windows reinstalled (no reason for this) last time i brought it in with bad HDD they replace hard drive and don't install windows. it's like they only do what they want. no protocols to follow. When they fixed that i called to find out when i would get it back. On a monday night they guy told me it shipped that after noon. after a week i call again and a different guy told me it didn't ship til wed. evening. so i was lied to. I called corporate and they made a complaint agains employee to be handled internally. they gave me a number to track status. when i go to check i get message "no ticket with this number exists in out system"

They just lie lie and lie. I will never shop there again.

This forum should be less of complaining now and just more of informing others to shop somewhere else. People should stop going to best buy and a pay a few bucks more for a store like CC or Sears where the warrenties actually mean something.

I don't like Best Buy. I went in once to buy some video cables and the first person I talked to just laughed at me. I told him to stop it, but he won't. He then called a girl over they both laughed at me. I told them to stop it again! They both started hitting me with the video cables and cursing me with awful curse words and were very, very rude to me. They both then dumped sodas over my head and gave me a wedgie before kicking me to the curb.....

They were mean, nasty people....

Regardless of if that last story was true or not, I wouldn't doubt it. I really think that they are in fact trained to lie and make fun of the customers. I can't believe they are still in business.

It has no been a month and half since my laptop worked. right now geek squad has it. they told me they would do overnight shipping. They didn't. This was supposed to be the final reapir qualifying for a replacement under no lemon policy. They didn't. All the money i spent there over the years they can afford to give me a new one and still make a profit off me. They don't even follow there own policy.

Found this story online.

Just thought I'd let you know of a local CBS news report that was done in the Sacramento area last night. They took a new DELL that was checked by their technicians and first made sure nothing was wrong with it. Then all they did was loosen the audio cable from the DVD-ROM drive. After this was completed they took it to three local reatailers. The two private companies checked it out and fixed it for $69.99 for one and $39.99 for another. Both had diagnosed it correctly with no other problems. When they took it to the geek squad they diagnosed it with adware and malware infections and possibel virus that would be causing the sound the cut in and out. They then took their camera to the manager who tried to resolve the issue with his employee who checked in the computer but nothing could be done, at the end he said ethical practices were number one in providing customer service. Finally the media is letting people know of this disease that is Best Buy. By the way I used to work for Circuit City before I graduated college, and I can say that our FireDog techs would never be this stupid in diagnosing a sound problem. The first thing they would have checked would have been the wires. Why geek squad didn't do this I have no idea except to increase the cost to fix the machine. By the way the diagnostic was about $60.00 and they were quoted a fix of about $40.00 more.

They are so underqualifyed it makes me want to cry.

When in-store customers ? Where would they see the internal web site in the first place ? What determines who sees it and who doesn't ? Or am I misunderstanding that this is more like an employee-discount site ?

the site situation is like this.

when you are at home and go to bestbuy.com you see the website. when instore it makes it look like you are at bestbuy.com when in fact you are on a in store only website made to look exactly like bestbuy.com exept with higer prices.

another story.

3 years ago best buy has half life 1 and expansions on sale as a box set. 9.99. i go in the sticker on box says 9.99 all is good. i get to counter they tell me it is a mistake that the strategy guide is 9.99 and the gme is 29.99. that was probably the first time i got really upset with them. i had bad experiences previous but this time made me feel like a lier and theif. It was in the ad. and the sticker said 9.99. They lie and just make up what ever prices they want.

also last christmas eve they had a bunch of pc games on sale 2 for 30. my bothers and i were all going to by the counter strike anthology. the first BB we went to had one copy so we got that with another game. I called another best buy and asked them to hold 3 copies so we could get them in a few minutes. We get there and i ask they guy for them and he wouldn't give them to me. They were at the counter with a name tag on them. The last name was the same as mine but the guy on the phone wrote the last letter down wrong. So because he spelled my name wrong I had to go find more on the shelf. It took a while but i was able to find 3. They spelled my name wrong. So now no one could buy those 3.

They do have some positives because when Best Buy Bucks season comes around you can use them both online and in store. But make sure that before you use them in store that you get your package. If you use them on the same day sometimes they will check and cancel your online order. But other than that they can get ripped off pretty bad.

I just don't understand why people don't leverage the power of their credit card. Most of my retail purchases are made with my Amex Blue. I know a lot of other cards also offer free extended warranty coverage.

I had a Dell laptop go bad after the 1-year OEM warranty period and Amex refunded me over 90% of the original purchase price more than a 18 months after the initial purchase.

I NEVER worry about warranty coverage or purchase-related disputes when I use my Amex.
