BB, in their ongoing strategy to tighten up their profit margins, is now putting BB specific UPCs on any merchandise they might be forced to price match from a competitor in a BF sale, and to keep competitors from price matching their BF sales, thus forcing people to shop at BB for their BF deals.

The UPC and model number altered merchandise is the same exact items available at other retail stores, just with a BB specific UPC and model number pasted on it.

While many retailers have been occasionally doing this over the years on low margin or loss leader items, BB is now planning on doing this much more aggressively, according to a FOX news story I just saw a few minutes ago on TV.

Nexus 7 being damn near half the price of an ipad mini.

Apple:

iMac = old news
Mac Mini= old News
iPad = old news
iPhone = too small and old news

I own 3 mac minis and have modded + upgraded them as a side business for years. (hundreds of them 2006-2013 ) No one wants them I no longer bother listing them on ebay. I only do them if asked.

There is a Insignia 39" LED TV for $178 and a Sharp 42" LED TV for $299. The Sharp has one extra HDMI port, is Roku ready and has a bigger screen. The Insignia doesn't mention Roku. I'm don't have much experience regarding TVs so just want to get some opinions. Not sure if the Sharp is worth the extra $120. Also, I won't be watching the TV from a great distance so I don't really need the extra size. The Sharp seems to have more features and maybe a better image quality. All I want to do on the TV is to stream video content and to play console games. Appreciate any opinion.

Roku ready doesn't seem terribly compelling based on what I just read, you have to buy a roku in any case.

Personally I would go with the insignia. $120 buys a roku or appletv or almost a new xbox 360.

For those that don't know with the Best Buy ad, only the front page, page 2, and the back cover are "in stores only". Everything else sounds like it will be available online!

It states so on the very bottom of the front page.

I wonder why that Sharp tv is no where to be found on Sharp's website.

I am fairly certain I'm going to get it. I don't need a super quality screen, just something decent. Not sure about the quality of the screen, though. The Sharp seems to have the right features. Don't see any reason not to get it.

Not saying you shouldn't get it. I was also thinking about buying this tv as gift for a family member because Sharp along with Sony and Panasonic are the brands I trust. However, I don't think this is a Sharp product, so I will pass on it.

That is a Best Buy exclusive item according to the ad. Maybe that's why it's not on the Sharp website?

yes, that is something I don't like about BestBuy (and other stores) these days. They "rebrand" (remodel?) a lot of items, meaning they get an existing model, have the manufacturer give it a different model number with minor tweaks, and have that model number exclusive to them. This means they do not have to price match the other dealer's almost exactly the same model, since they are "different" products.

So this is in fact a Sharp product then? I don't see any other 42" TVs on Sharp's website. From the customer reviews though, it seems like a solid TV.
