Anyone know anything about that tv?

Also, if i buy it before that friday to ensure i can get this deal, I could price match, right?

Can't pricematch on black friday.

That sucks......i wanted another TV too....

You think they have the same TV at Circiut City. I checked BB's website and they removed the link to the 27 in TV.

Exactly why I hate dealing with most employees at Best Buy.

Here's a ridiculous article about how awesome Best Buy's selling practices are. Business 2.0 Article about Best Buy selling practices. I think Best Buy must've paid them for this damn article.

Crutchfield wiring harness: free w/ purchase of deck
Best Buy: $15

Crutchfield antenna adapter (GM): free w/ purchase
Best Buy: $10

Crutchfield deck mounting kit: free w/ purchase
Best Buy: $15-20

Oh, and their decks are usually cheaper as well.

I bet this 27" Television is super high quality. So super high quality that they don't even sell them. I just searched their site and they don't sell anything even similar. So, they are crating in 1 of these for each store from a factory somewhere that little kids work for pennies just to draw in a storm of people who will be pissed about wasted time and decide that since they are here they might as well buy that super plasma tv they have always wanted. After all, they are here, and they should live for today. Their child could get in a car accident tomorrow, and then what good would all that college money be? Might as well spend it today, live for the moment. Oh... um... sorry, got carried away. You get the point.

In defense of Worst Buy, they always have a big fat stack of their advertised bf deals.

Apex is the brand of TV that you can find on sale at Albertsons and other grocery stores.
So it has to be good.

I actually have an Apex DVD player that I bought because it can be regional-free, macrovision-free,
and plays all kinds of discs (PAL, NTSC, SVCD, VCD, DVD-R, DVD+R, etc.), but I would never consider
using it as my only DVD player since the build quality is cheap and you have to shut it off between VCDs to get it to play the next one correctly.

Buyer beware.

something tells me it may not be this tv. even if it is, they may not be getting them in stock until very close to black friday. this way, they arent sitting around and being sold ahead of time, and they can be held till the ad date.

I'm not looking for the best tv in the world just something to replace a 14 year old Zenith that the color is fubared on. I'm just wondering if its stereo or might possibly have an S-Video in jack.

Thanks! I will remember that if you ever come into my store!
BTW I always try to work deals for my customers. Also I was one of the Black Friday shoppers last year at the store I am working at this year, funny how things change.

How much leeway to you guys get to work deals? For instance if you are a week late on a sale price can they still give it to you?

Thanks

I get a considerable amount of leeway when I am working in computers (I am a Geek Squad Agent). Not as much as Home Theater gets because they have enormous amounts of margin to work with. But for instance, I am more than happy to try to get customers bumped from 12 months to 18 months no interest, I am pretty accomodating on giving 10% off display models instead of usual 5%, I will throw in some free stuff on occasion. Now, on the late sale thing, I can't do much if it was the week before and the tag is not out, now, we ALWAYS honor our tag prices at my store, if there is a MIR, we just give an IR. Once in a while I will even give customers the next weeks price if it is like fri or sat.
In terms of leeway while doing GS work, well, there I can pretty much charge whatever the heck I want to, nice being in one of the top ranked depts in the country...
Btw, I am incharge of the line at my store on BF, since I will be working, I am probably sending my brothers or sister to Wallyworld to get some stuff...hehehe

With this I could see a possible backfire. With more and more retail moving online along with tax-free purchases and bottom dollar prices this might bring Best Buy's competition a chance to take those 20% of customers and have them influence the remaining 80% that they are paying to much.

These 20% of people are the internet savy price shoppers and they were used to going into best buy with a print out for a PM. This just gives them a reason to take those purchases and their recommendations as far as where to buy things to the internet.

Retail may be stricklyonline within the next 10-15years. I hope these strong B&M stores have their websites in check by then or else they will be history.

Why print on the wall that you price match then you don't. I didn't even get my $.50 for the 10% extra. NOW THAT SUCKS

I've had similar experiences, so have many others. It's an intentionally misleading and deceptive policy, and it should be taken down. When I asked them for a copy of their pricematch policy in writing once, they took 20 minutes to be able to give it to me, as they didn't have any copies in writing, and had to print it out from - get this - their online site.

Some 'service'. Is it any wonder that I generally avoid shopping there any more? My only purchases now are cheap media on the rare occasion that they have a decent sale. No way that I'd ever purchase a "big item" there ever again.

How would that happen, if it requires the original UPC for the MIR, and you can't return items with a missing UPC? Did they still take back the item? Or was it unopened/undamaged, and they simply refused to refund the full amount, under the assumption that you would still send in the MIR?

In the former, that would be their fault for taking it back, but if it's the latter - that would have me very concerned. If I purchased something, and returned it un-opened, and paid cash, and was within the return window with a receipt, they had better give me my full amount back.

Btw, has everyone noticed that a few months back, Wal-Mart instituted a form of "restocking fee" - if you return something, they refund the purchase price, minus any sales tax that you paid ? Personally, that doesn't sound very legal to me, since assuming that they keep accurate sales-total paperwork, that has to be shown to the state to "prove" the amount of sales tax that they would be paying, then they should also be able to note refunds and show a credit in that instance, so it all works out in the end. No other store that I am aware of does this. Is this a new trend among retailers, or just another sleazy cost-cutting measure by Wal-Mart? (Does that imply that they might be "cooking the books" with regards to their sales-tax records too, somehow?? I wonder. I just cannot fathom, that with accurate accounting, that such a thing would be necessary or permissable.)

That's the most F'ed-up part of BestBuy's whole scheme - they put pressure on these (usually young and inexperienced) retail salespeople, to put pressure on the customers to purchase these "extras", and yet, they don't even get commission bonuses for it! It's like BestBuy the corporation wants to get those same sorts of sales benefits, but not pay their salespeople to get them.

Honestly, speaking on behalf of the people that have to work at a place like that, I would actually probably feel better about it, if they were on commission, because they would be making more money. But the problem is appearances, by not actually being on commission, they can push their sleazy used-car-salesperson tactics on customers, and not appear sleazy, because they can answer honestly when asked if they are on commission or not. But the managers get bonuses based on monthly ratings in their depts. for selling PSPs, etc., so effectively, the managers are on commission, whether or not it is stated explicitly.

More experiences sales personally would never stand for that treatment anyways, but most of them are still in HS, and don't know any better, from my experience.

I love these inexperienced best buy workers. Case and point.

Went there looking for a TV on sunday. Found a Toshiba 24inch flat screen "opened item". There was the retail one sitting a few aisles away with a sign that reads $299 and next to it was a 20inch one that went for 219.99. This bad boy which i checked was pretty much spankin new but just returned. It has all manuals, remotes, in it with the stickers not even peeled off.

Guess what the price said! Original price $219.99, open item discount. $189.99! and check this, on top of that there was a 20% off discount on all open items for tv's and dvd players. shweet, after state tax in ny of about 8%, it was $170.14. Dude, you can't beat that on a basically new 24 inch. yay* i'm happpy.

That doesn't sound like inexperience to me... it sounds more like ignorance/carelessness on the part of the workers.

Your are the exact customer BB is trying to get rid of. Give me a fckin break you missed out on 2 dollars. I can see if you bought a laptop and it went on sale for 50 or 100 bucks cheaper, but 2 dollars? You probably wasted more time and money on gas trying to get the price match.

Ahh, Black Friday. The retail industry's attempt to breathe life into the November lull.

I'm so snagging those Wireless G products. I've already upgraded from Ethernet to 802.11b in my apartment, but going to G couldn't hurt, especially since it would mean I could plug the one ethernet line I dragged upstairs into the PS2 and get the G adaptor for my XBox.

Man, I want to see what other nutso stuff they have. I'm hoping they have incentives for Reward Zone members. Best $10 I ever spent, that membership. Made it back easily after a few must-have deals I spotted on AT
