can i buy the items a couple of days before friday and do price match at that day?

Yeah but you're going to have to go down to the super busy store and do it anyway... but then again, you could always return it if you didn't make it down there black Friday...

I think everyone should work at Best Buy, then run a store against Best Buy, and then complain. Seriously, everything they do is business. I was pressured to add things onto people's sales and such when I worked there, I didn't think it was a big deal, it makes sense.

I have tons of respect for the store after working there and for any other retail store. Its so easy for honest mistakes to happen. The store I worked at treated the employees extremely well and it was a great place to work. Also I hope that online shopping doesn't kill retail sales, and I don't see that happening unless brands come out with their own stores for people to try out products.

if there is going to be a 27" tv on sale for around $90 on BF, i believe it is going to be a Sansui and not the apex.

yeh, the 27" apex isn't on the list anymore...deal not gonna be going on or what? Also, if you are going to make changes to the list, then you should probably post the updates and take note of what they are that way we are not confused...

Anyone know the real deal on how they price match black friday deals that you bought before bf? I saw one post say they don't match bf deals, another seemed to indicate you had to go on bf to match the bf deal.

I always thought all you had to do is show that they had offered the item for a lower price than you payed within 30 days. So, if you go in on Monday and say you sold this cheaper last Friday, all is well as long as you're within the 30 day window.

They say you can't price match black friday deals. You can however threaten to return it and rebuy it. I've done that numerous times and they always cave. I've done it in reference to the 10% off coupons, however - I'll buy something and get the coupon in a few days for 10% off that says not good on prior sales. For BF, you would be SOL if the item you wanted was gone. Why go through the trouble of buying it and then fighting with customer service that day anyway.

I've never had a problem returning/rebuying a BF deal in the last 6 years of doing it. I just wait until 1pm on BF, stroll into the store past all those poor slobs waiting in a 2 hour checkout line, go to the empty customer service counter, return/rebuy, and I'm out in 10 minutes

Best Buy to exorcise devil-customers

RICHFIELD, Minn., Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Big box electronics retailer Best Buy wants to run off customers who contribute nothing to profits, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday.

Known as devils, such customers typically buy products, apply for rebates, return the purchases and then buy them back at returned-merchandise discounts. They load up on severely discounted merchandise designed to boost store traffic, then flip the goods at a profit on eBay. Devils, who acccount for about 100 million of the store's 500 million customer visits yearly, slap down rock-bottom price quotes from Web sites and demand that Best Buy make good on its lowest-price pledge.

Angels, on the other hand, are customers who boost profits by snapping up high-definition televisions, portable electronics and newly released DVDs without waiting for markdowns or rebates.

This year, Best Buy is stocking more merchandise and providing more appealing service to attract angels. To deter devils, it's cutting back on promotions and sales tactics that tend to draw them and culling them from marketing lists.

No wonder the deals suck!

Roughly 3 years ago when I worked in the Media department of Best Buy, PS2s were a huge sale item for that christmas season, I remember a particular manager (who was representative of every manager I knew there) explaining to us that there was NO excuse for letting someone walk out the door with a PS2 without also selling them at least 3 games, 4 controllers +multi-tap, 2 memory cards, and anything else we could dump on top. I tried figuring out a way to tell someone they couldn't live without 4 controllers and 2 memory cards... but honestly, I'm just not very evil so I didn't (not like I got commision).

That's the most F'ed-up part of BestBuy's whole scheme - they put pressure on these (usually young and inexperienced) retail salespeople, to put pressure on the customers to purchase these "extras", and yet, they don't even get commission bonuses for it! It's like BestBuy the corporation wants to get those same sorts of sales benefits, but not pay their salespeople to get them.

Honestly, speaking on behalf of the people that have to work at a place like that, I would actually probably feel better about it, if they were on commission, because they would be making more money. But the problem is appearances, by not actually being on commission, they can push their sleazy used-car-salesperson tactics on customers, and not appear sleazy, because they can answer honestly when asked if they are on commission or not. But the managers get bonuses based on monthly ratings in their depts. for selling PSPs, etc., so effectively, the managers are on commission, whether or not it is stated explicitly.

More experiences sales personally would never stand for that treatment anyways, but most of them are still in HS, and don't know any better, from my experience.
Add-ons is something required by the corporation. Just like when they offer you the extended warrenty plans, they dont get commission, but they are required to sell it, and if they dont sell any, a manger see's 0% next to the person's name and comes and bitches. the extended warrenty plan is pure profit for the company. only about 5% of the plans purchased are ever actually used. so just like the extended warrenty the add-on sales are required by the associate.

Seriously, what retarded marketing person came up with the idea that having a sale would end up selling non-sale items? When I see an ad for something I want on sale, I go in to the buy that. If I wanted something else, I'd get it when I wanted it.

Honestly I can't remember the last time I walked into Best Buy for some $10 blank dvd's deal and though to myself "hmmm, plasma TV's, I haven't bought one of those lately."

There are two reasons I can think of that the marketing people get this idea from:

The first one is accessories... like when a sale is on for a dvd burner, printer, or something of the like (this doesn't apply for your example, as in things that don't really require accessories don't help out much). They expect the customer to come in and get the dvd burner (this will be my example, because it works best to illustrate) and get the blank cd/dvd spindle deal as well as some cd/dvd labels. For those out there who are scared to go into their computers, more profit will be earned through those customers paying the store to install them. A lot of potential profit from one sale item, right? (with printers you'd have regular/photo paper, a usb cable, ink, etc....)

It's also the small stuff that is where those marketing people get the idea from. Many people (not members of forums like these obviously) are weak and give in to impulse buying. They bank on people walking into the store and either seeing things that they like while on the way to the sale item, on the way back from it to the register, or while waiting in line, and make an impulse purchase. And there are also the people that walk into the store and go "Oh yeah... I forgot that I'm low on batteries/paper/dvdr's/etc." Basic idea is that the customer will get it eventually somewhere, but most people would rather just get it all at one place, so they try to get them to come to their store to get what all they are needing. I can't justify driving 10-20 minutes to a different place to save a couple of bucks, because a good deal of that savings is lost in the cost of gas in order to get there (most people don't seem to take gas into account), so I would go ahead and get everything I was needing at the same place so long as it was a reasonable price difference.

That's just my view on the matter....

Not only that... but just think... that is 1 more customer walking in the store... and what does that mean? Exposure to other stuff... "hmm since i'm here myabe i'll check to see if they have nething on sale... oh wow... didn't know tv's are much cheaper now..." its to get ppl to get off their ass and come in the store... sometimes they have long ass lines where ppl will just go browse while they wait for the line to get shorter just so that they could buy something they came in on sale for... its almost like "extended" paid for advertising to them...

Also similar reasons why they give "free giftcards, dvd movies" to test drive a car or advertise a rediculously low price on a car (by law they have to have the VIN of the sale item and if it was sold, produce a sold receipt... but it makes ppl think all the cars are that price) . What happens when you test drive a car... 1) you get a feel for it instead of seeing some bimbo's drive it on tv ads, 2) they just bought time to try to "sell" you the car.. .once again exposure so that they could make their pitch and hitting closer to home than just regular tv ads...

"Free tickets to disneyland, free 3-day resort" provided you have to stay and listen to some timeshare salespitch bullshit.... THE WHOLE POINT IS TO GET YOUR EXPOSURE...

So if u think that is crappy marketing you're obviously blind to their ploy... just the way it was intended...

JVC Digital Camcorder GRD22US $299.99 - $70 IR - $30 MIR = $199.99 (6191541)

This camcorder doesn't even exist. There is a JVC GRD33US and GRD72US. Makes me wonder about the accuracy of this deal list.

If your curious, the 27inch tv, its ur basic tv, mines silver, picture is decent, it has 2 a/v connections and a s-video connection on the back. Not sure if it has a/v connections on the front, cause im living @ my dorm and didnt bring it with me.
