Radeon 9800 XT for $100 after a rebate? Sounds like a very hot deal. Can anyone confirm this? I've heard they might have a 9600 XT, but not a 9800 XT.

It's a 9600XT not a 9800XT for 199 - 100 mail-in rebate = $99

I wish it was a 9800 but no luck this year. I need PCIE anyway so I did not even have any hope this year.

The Toshiba Laptop says the 400$ rebate is INSTANT.
This is correct and not an Ad misprint???
If so this is a HOT deal for $499!

Yes no MIRs , $499 + tx OTD.

Its hot but id wager that these are going to be a hot item and you are going to have to get up pretty early in the morning to get in on it.

I am doing some research now...anyone know the exact model of this laptop?

Ok , its the M35X-S109 the new repalcment is the M35X-S149 ..which goes for about $800-$850 at best.

S109 specs:
Celeron M 330
15" XGA , 1024x768 native max brightness 150 Cd/m2
256mb PC2700 , one slot left for upgrade
40 gb 4200 rpm hard drive
DVD-rom / CD-RW 24x
Intel 855GME , 16mb-64mb shared video memory
1 PC card slot
Integrated model and 10/100 base TX
Battery 8 cell 4300 mAh Li-Ion , up to 3.5 hrs life

S149 specs ($999 model):
Celeron M 340
15.4" WXGA, 1280x1024 native, max brightness 150 Cd/m2
256mb PC 2700, one slot left for upgrade
60gb 4200rpm Enhanced IDE ATA-5 hard drive
DVD-rom /CD-RW
Intel 855GME, 16-64mb shared video memory
1 PC card slot
Integrated modem, 10/100 base tx and WI-FI LAn 802.11bg
Battery 8 cell 4300mAh Li-Ion , up to 3.5 hrs life

So all told these are about the same , the main differences is the newer model has a better screen and built in Wi-Fi

$500 + tx for me is $545 OTD ... id say its worth $100 less than the new model's best street price so $700 +tx = $756 ...so this is a solid $200 savings in my book. A really good deal.

Im in, I am going to Best Buy at 5:00 am to wait in line for one.

It's not just waiting in line to get in the store. Last time I shopped BF (a couple of years ago), the lines to check out at BB reached the BACK of the store!!

it's the toshiba M35X-S109. Ad claims minimum 25 per store. Toshiba's spec sheet for the model is listed above, or listed again right HERE!

Specs look pretty good assuming they are accurate-- even has Firewire!

I must worn peeps about the toshiba laptop(s). Their celeron laptops are SEVERLY underpowered! Not sure what it is exactly, but I had one of their laptops that had a 600mhz laptop, and then upgraded to the 1800 series (I worked with the 1g and 1.1g celeron versions). Frankly, the cpu boost from the 600 laptop to the 1100 (the one I own) is barly noticable. The video chipset included was a cyberblade incapable of playing even old 3d games like Quake3. Not sure how good or bad the intel one here is (though I suspect better). However I play movies constantly on my laptop, and the performance is very dissapointing. I use FFdshow to get max performance, but even then some of the high res movies are simply unplayable. And forget bloated players like media player, even streamed 700kbit WMV content isnt playable. The cpu performance is abysmal. I am still using the dvd software that came with it because the new versions of the dvd players also constantly skip frames.

And you can forget power savings, you can turn the screen down, but if you touch cpu speed/cooling, even just setting it down a little, the laptop feels very slugish and nothing cpu intensive like video playback is possible. You can do word processing, but even MS word will lag a little, especialy with the real time spell check.

you will get what you pay for.

Hmm, this is a Celeron M, which is totally different with p4 celeron. Celeron M is a less cache version of the Dothan core and as capable as Banias core, but with a lower fsb. So, it is a very powerful cpu even at 1.4ghz. And if one is competent pc builder, one can always drop in a Pentium M dothan core 1.6ghz into it and get an easy upgrade.

gunblade, thats just it. Its not the cpu thats bad, celeron 1100 is a fine cpu, but what ever the chips they use on the motherboard, purhaps part of the system intended to help conserve power, its reducing the power of the cpu right off the bat.

Does anyone have any additional information on the eMachines T2893? I am planning on buying this tomorrow and have been looking around the net for reviews... but no luck. Are they a decent PC?
