Anyone see Geek Squad setting out on their own? Serious question, I really don't know how they fare business wise. Based on their pricing, a steady flow of customers must yield profits...
Those guys are the worst. Im not sure how they're still around.
Let's all hope that BestBuy goes out of business, and gets bought out by Microcenter, and they expand their list of stores.
walmart sells their own model numbers with crappier components than what is sold in best buy
YES! thatll be awesome because there is plenty of BBs near me but no MCLet's all hope that BestBuy goes out of business, and gets bought out by Microcenter, and they expand their list of stores.
Then why isn't BBY advertising this and say they have higher quality TVs? This is why BBY fails, they just try and sell warranties instead, but everyone caught on a long time ago.
I'm not saying BBY is doomed just because they are BBY, but they are doomed because management is stupid.
Well its not that their management is stupid, its that their management thinks the customers are stupid and that they can continually take advantage of the customers with the same old bag of tricks from 1990. If BBY had more expensive TVs and advertised they had better quality TVs over walmart and target and amazon that would be an effective retail strategy but that is NOT what they do.
Just saw on cnbc they are closing 42 more in addition to the 50.

I laughed when I found out that the BB store in Boston's Back Bay is going to close. WTF were they thinking? Who in their right mind thought opening a store in that area would be a good idea....
This latest drama surrounding Best Buy came shortly after the company announced that it was closing 50 stores in an effort to save $800 million dollars. The company has already closed two of the 50 stores, and notified six others that they would be closing.
Yesterday, the company revealed the list of the remaining 42 stores that will be closed. Best Buy expects that most of the stores will permanently shut their doors to customers by May 2.
They must be doing good in some areas, there's a BB about 6 miles from my sisters house, and last year they opened another about 1 mile from her. I have no problem with BB, I hate waiting for items to ship, and they always price match Amazon for me. Yeah BB charges tax, but I'm not hit with shipping, and I don't have to wait. Even on Amazon items that have free shipping, I'd rather pay tax and have the item instantly.
