Best Buy to Stop Selling Huawei Phones
Chinese cellular-electronics company has had difficulty securing carrier partnerships after congressional report over security concerns

Supposedly this phone brand is having a hard time securing a carrier partner to support their phones. This is due to security concerns over their phones and their supposed relationship with the Chinese Government. The company says they dont disclose their business dealings concerning the manufacture of their phones.

This reminds me of the supposed flaws found in Intel CPU's. Do you think the Chinese government was responsible for that?

Much of our technology equipment is being manufactured in China from Phones to Motherboards. Is this all espionage?

No, it's not.

While I wouldn't want to completely rule things out, to date there hasn't been concrete evidence that Huawei is serving as a back door for Chinese surveillance. The concern is more speculative, that Huawei could be strongarmed into enabling surveillance. And with smartphones, that would be fairly silly -- the likelihood of a US government employee buying a Huawei phone and carrying it somewhere it could be used as a spying tool is... very slim.

Also, those chip flaws (Spectre and Meltdown) aren't 'supposed,' they're real... and have zero to do with China. It's an unquestionable fact. They affected virtually every CPU architecture, and neither x86 nor ARM are designed in China. The decisions in question were made in the 1990s, for that matter. I know China plays a long game, but it's not going to develop such a huge vulnerability and let it go unused for roughly 20 years.

After having owned the 6P, I will no longer buy another Huawei product. Their support is absolute garbage (6P battery issues that everyone had), and I'm glad all these US carriers/stores have stopped selling them.

Also Huawei are much less likely to be strong armed into spying on American citizens by the American government, which I suspect is more of an issue to the American government.
