I just got this email and was wondering if anyone else got it? I think its a fraud and wanted to bring it to everyone's attention. Sorry if it's a repost, I searched and found nothing. I think this is the person's IP as well that I got this email from. 12-216-32-149 I also called the phone number on bottom and it asked to please enter my security code.

Received this same e-mail. It is very troubling that someone can get a list of the e-mail addresses of Best Buy's customer's who've made purchases on their website with credit cards recently. Best Buy did have a recorded message about this at their customer srvice # when you punched up order status if I remember well. Best Buy needs to have 128 bit encryption for the entire ordering process so this kind of crap doesn't happen. So here's the header info and such on the e-mail. These people belong behind bars, or better yet- tell the RIAA they illegaly downloaded copyrighted music and turn them over to them. LOL

I've already received another one of these same e-mail messages from a different address this time. The addresses of the senders are probably not people who are actually sendiing the message. This is acting just like an e-mail born virus.

Since when did NYC have a new area code of 206?

area code 206 belongs to Washington state: Seattle and Bainbridge Island

are you serious? lol - that's sad. don't know exactly what that will get you...

this is so fake its funny....

we had numerous folks calling our bb store about this today. not sure exactly what those customers thought retail employees were going to be able to do about it?

FYI - Best Buy's new website is set to roll out very shortly here - security is one of the focuses.

I received the same email and called BB. They have a recorded message about the fraud and indicate that they are investigating.

Thank you for the post. I think it does belong in Hot Deals, and I hardly think you would have to be a "moron" (to quote one threadcrapper) to fall for this scam. I've bought online from BB several times, and have noticed the don't have the quickest shipping or the best procedures to update you on the status of your order. I could easily see falling for this scam.

Haven't gotten this scam email yet myself personally but thanks again for the heads up.

Actually I bet this has nothing to do with BestBuy. My friend just got this email too and he gets alot of spam, and he's never ordered from BB online. And a PP said they've never ordered from BB online either. I bet this is similiar to the Paypal scam emails, they are just using BestBuy in this case, maybe they don't like them, 'cause BB is probably getting a ton of calls, you can't call Paypal.

I still wondering for what reason it belongs in here. Let alone, how this email is trying to scam someone. If you didn't order anything from BB, especially what is listed, and that isn't your addess, why wouldn't you just ignore it to begin with? I mean, there is a link there that leads to a page on the BB site, but the link is dead... do people seriously just hit "reply" and type "Yeah man, go ahead and send that stuff!"?

Come on...
this post is lame, IMO.
