BestBuy has the Fujifilm DVD-R 50 pack spindle for $14.95. On the spindle it says it can burn up to 16x.

I looked on the BB website and couldn't find a link to the product. Might want to call ahead before you take a trip to BB and make sure they are in stock.

People just love the Japan ones, that's all. I think it is a hot deal at the price, they are decent discs. Just purchased some in Las Vegas and they are Taiwan too.

Those of you with BJ's nearby might want to lookout for their deals.

They had a great sale on Fujis TWICE in December. My local BJ's happened to have Made in Japan spindles in stock.

They were $10 per 50-pack at the register with a $5 rebate, making them $5 per 50 AR. The rebate was an online kind with no UPC mailing in.

I just went to that link and they had nothing to say about taiwan based Fuji dvds being bad...

Fuji dvds were placed in the 2nd class category, but nowhere did it note that this class was only for the Taiwan dvds, or the other areas. So, where on that page am I missing the info?

Not sure if this is still the same but fuji MIJ were Taiyo Yuden (Japan) which is first class media. MIT were either cmc or other thats not first class media. Hope that helps

It's not Fuji that's bad. Fuji makes their own media and its not so bad (FUJIFILM for -R and +R) but Fuji also pimps out to 3rd party manufacturers and sticks their name on it, too (Sony, TDK, Memorex, etc.. all do this)

Its the 3rd party stuff that people are worried about. Fuji has been known to pimp out to Prodisc and Ritek, which are 2nd tier, and even Fuji's own FUJIFILM is still considered 2nd tier. The thing is, if you can get MIJ Fuji's, its gonna be Taiyo Yuden. If you're gonna pay the same price for 2nd tier or 1st tier, wouldn't you want to go get the 1st tier?

It also just depends on how well the media works for you. Some people have fantastic burns with Ritek, some people have crappy burns with Prodisc. But a lot of people have excellent experiences with Taiyo Yuden, so that's why people are always promoting them.

MIT -R or +R?

Well, if you don't mind Ritek, then i guess it wouldn't be a problem for you. My Pioneer DVR-110D burns everything ive thrown at it, but i'd rather have MIJ Fujis for my own piece of mind

Hopefully my BenQ 1640s will be able to burn them. I see no reason to pass up on a deal if the media works good. There is a reason why those non tawain ones were not on sale.

The first few posts made it seem like these were crap, yet nobody would post why. Only person who was actually able to explain it all was AkumaX, which is much appreciated.

lol. Well after reading what AkumaX has to say, it sounds like they are just one step down from the other brand of DVDs. People would rather have the 1st class ones over the 2nd class, which is understandable.

Sorry but Ridata/Ritek has got MUCH worse. heck flip the dvd over and look at the back a lot of people are finding runs in the dye BEFORE even burning.

If you find MIJ then yea get them, but I would pass on the MIT.

Marlin, something to backup your claim would really be helpful for people making a decision on if they should buy these DVDs.

Go to newegg.com and look at the reviews of the Ridata. Most of the good reviews say I have had these for a year now. Well they were not even ,made a year ago (16x that is) the ones that say they juts got them and have burned a lot and tried them report runs in dye, many pi errors and failures, etc... the last one I saw said they were good, but could only burn 16x media at 4x to work.

I have some 4X Ridata and they are GREAT. That is why I almost bought the newwer Ridata till I read the newwer reviews on many sites.

Check out this sites forum on media and you can see the downward quality level of Ridata and anything they make.
