To the OP:

You know, I would have agreed with the posters here regarding not taking the job if I was still in college. But now that I've graduated with a Bachelor's in MIS and I'm still working the same retail job that I was during college, I suggest you take it. Even though the job will probably suck, you may be in it for the long haul while waiting for something IT related to pop up. I've certainly found that out.

Well i just retured from the interview this. It was a long drive and there was a lot of traffic heading there.

First of all i think i was way over dressed. I was wearing the starndard inteview suit. Dark blue suit with baby blue shirt. We sat at a roundt table with 3 guys on one end and me on the other. It was like some type of drill or something. They kept hammering me with question after question. By the time i was finished with one they asked another. They didnt even ask for a resume, but i handed to them anyway. At the end he looked at my application and said " I see you put on here you want 13/hr. Well you know you cant get 13/hr here. It is negotioable. But it will not be 13/hr.

I was thinking to myself that they put me thruogh all of this and i cant even make 13/hr. He asked me another question that asked " If you had 20 PC in one day, How many of them ccould you get finish or trouble shoot.. I really didnt know how to answer that one. So i gave the standard answer of I would try my hardest to finish all of them blah blah blah. Then he said if you did how many of them would be retured. I said i dont thinnk any would be retured blah blah blah. Then he said in a perfect world that would happen. But how many do you think. I said maybe 3 or so.

OH well they said they would call in 2 weeks. I will just keep job hunting and see what happens..

don't work at best buy

Jeez man, with a BS you should NOT go back to working retail. I can only imagine the horrible torture you must succumb to working SERVICE at BEST BUY. Its not worth it, even if they paid you double that. And after reading your update its obvious you'll never make more than 13 there.

Please...Aim higher.

This guy is not saying he wants a career in best buy... There ARE some people out there who don't have a job set in stone right after college you know. If you must take it, take it as a part time gig only so you can focus the rest of your week on hard core job searching. It's ok to be stuck in a rut and I know you don't have much IT experience but hang in there. I haven't quite finished my BS degree in IT yet but I was desperate for a job at one point and took a menial sales position. 3 months later I became store manager. 7 months after that I took over the IT for our company. I don't consider this my career, it's just a stepping stone for bigger and better things. I'd rather be a tech at BB and put that on my resume than putting I temped at office jobs where I filed paper for 10 bucks an hour. Any experience is better than none.

btw: I've temped before and it I can see how it "COULD" possibly lead to a permanent position with the company your temping for but I wouldn't buck on that. Been there, heard that from a few places I temped for, didn't happen.

You guys have been very helpful to me. You all gave me a lot to think about. One part of me does not want to work at best buy service center. and another part want to work there just for experience as a stepping stone for a better job in the near future. I will just have to wait and see when they call in 2 weeks.
