Zorro: Yes, mods usually ban for "IBTL", but it has to be awfully difficult for redly to amass 2400 posts with actual content. Gotta throw in the occasional "IBTL" to keep up the stats.

Best Buy extended warranty does not cover the screen on the laptop. Their people are never nice, especially the managers. They do not believe in customer service. Don't buy anything big, just the sale things.

Not true. I had the screen on my Hp Laptop replaced before. I doesn't cover the screen if you smash it though.

Your first post was locked. So what do you do?
You post the exact same thing that was locked in the other post.
2 posts and two will be locked.
If you were a poster at the board I Mod at you would be gone by now.
Slapping a Mod in the face is about the worse offense you can do.

Its clear this is being let to go on because everyone has to vent how bad Best Buy is every once in awhile.

No, its probably because the mods haven't seen it yet, heheh.

Several years ago i thought about getting a second job at Best Buy as a hardware tech for a few months to build up my cash reserves. Suprisingly, (and im not making this up) their job performance criteria for tech repair and service is by how many "saves" you make in a week - ie., how many times you convice people NOT to take their products in for repair. Now there is some logic to this; the old grandmother whom can't figure her remote out, or the mom of 4 who doesn't know reformat from spagetti. But its mainly because B&M computer hardware stores run on a very tight profit margins, usually 10% for computers ( but up to 50% on cell phones and stereos). Take a 2,000$ computer sale, and they make a gross (before their taxes) 200$ profit. Add a 200$ service plane and they've DOUBLED their profit margins. So it behooves them, in every way possible, NOT to 'return' any of that 200$ to the customer by any and every means possible. Outsourcing support is one way (deters returns, economies of scale (no need for trained employees at every store)); but the main is by actually actively discouraging customers from returning their products by their service representatives.

Moral is, of course: Best Buy = SUCK.

Never deal with BB on factory warranty problems, have them send it back, then have HP send you a box or just ship the part

The only exception is if it's a devo item

hmmm dell usually has 3 years of warranty and onsite repairs for the first year. (unless you buy their cheapest lines.) Dude, you shoulda got a Dell. -well, their laptops really don't suck. desktops and other aspects of the company are a different story based on who you talk to.

Not only does BB ESP fullfillment suck, it doesn't even cover the most likely thing to happen to a laptop, accidental damage/screen breakage. I buy only low-end Toshiba Satellites (for our limited needs), but I do buy the Toshiba extended factory warranty. It costs $300 (on sale right now for $200) for 3 years and DOES cover droppage and screen breakage.

After three years, the laptop's utility is used up anyway. If it continues to work for another year or two, that's a bonus!
