My boss just got back from mying the trilogy on DVD at our local BB. He got the last (Widescreen)copy in the store. When I went yesterday and bought my copy, I thought they had more than enough to last the week. They had piles all over the place.

Just thought it was odd that they would run out. I know demand is high, but d@mn.

They had plenty at the Springfield, IL store, but they were constantly refilling the displays and everyone at the checkout had a copy.

I've only watched the featurettes on the bonus material disk so far. Good stuff.

I just ordered mine from DEEP DISCOUNT DVD last night, their shipping is slow (it takes at least a week to get your dvd and usually longer) but they are the cheapest online dvd seller that I can find.

In this case I don't really care how long til I get it since I already watch em many times anyway

I ordered from Amazon on Sunday and it shipped today. I wanted to cancel it yesterday and couldn't b/c it was being "prepared for shipping." My co-worker got it at CC today for $33 after pricematching with Fry's price.

DDDVD charges tax in IL. So that made Amazon the cheapest for me.

But I didn't want to wait, so I picked it up at BB for $5 more.

DAMNIT! I've been waiting to see this movie for over two decades, and I have to wait even further?

Oh, it's been on VHS for years and years? Ah, nothing to see here

The video quality difference on a good HT setup is like night and day. Not even the laserdiscs come close.

If you have a big screen, the VHS and laserdisc copies were not even worth watching.

I agree, but by God we've waited a long time for these - a little longer can't hurt

Oh noooooooooo, Fry's has it for $33 that is SOOO cheap. It's too late for me now
Oh well I'll check Fry's too from now on, bring on LOTR

By the way, are there any plans to release LOTR with extended footage in a box set soon?

It's better to buy them online.
At BestBuy, everyone can spot you among the army of geeks storming the DVD section

Whoop-de-doo. The movies have been running on TBS for over a decade now. Who really cares about watching them again clearer in DVD? I wouldn't buy them if they were on sale for $5. Especially those edited DVD versions. Originals, maybe, but not the edited versions.

Either you are blind, or you don't have a high end HT setup. Watching on an SD channel like TBS is worse than the VHS.

Once you see the PQ difference on a high end HT setup, you'll understand.

So far I've watched IV and V and the PQ has been stunning. They haven't looked this good since I saw them in the theater over 20 years ago.

Oh god, you're from that town..... AGH

Theres a lot of people from Kokomo, IN on this other forum I frequent. They're an odd bunch. Observing their posts and the drama they create is like watching a soap opera played out by teenagers with down syndrome.

Is there something in the water out there?
