I will certainly not provide a smiley face to indicate I was kidding, because believe you me talking to you, I was as serious as a heart attack. Best Buy will sell reference cards for over $700. If they don't, I will eat a handful of cat food and post proof right here in this thread.

Moonbogg has a way out of this. Unless one is an aboriginal, BestBuy is selling the FE for > $700 because it's $699.99+tax

I've got a long drive today and I'll actually be passing not one, but two Best Buy stores. I'll stop in and check if they have any, but somehow I doubt it and expect just old stock of GTX 970/GTX 980 to be lingering around...

I actually expected the cards to be over $700. I really did. Best Buy's sudden and unexpected lack of blatant greed in this case has screwed me it would seem.

Just checked BestBuy.com in an effort to, well...it doesn't matter. FE cards litter the site for $700.
