Is this going to be a problem when people start bringing in their $5+ e-mailed RZ certs that are B&W or color printed? If so, I am going to be a rather angry customer...

I don't see that being a problem. Once a coupon is scanned it becomes void, multiple copies of the same coupon would do no good to a customer trying to pull a fast one.

I got the mail about changing the points, but didn't see anything at all about opting out.

Blamohammer, do you have any info about how to opt out? I don't like them changing the rules in the middle of my membership, and I don't want the card with the current rules.

If you are a small business owner you are able to obtain a Reward Zone Platinum membership which offers $5 for every 10,000 points in addition to no membership fee. The tradeoff is that some information about your business is required so that everyday Joe can't join up for the extra benefits.

That is about all I can think of on the current topic. Anything else just post or PM.
What kind of information would be needed? My dad has a small business anyways, so I'm not worried about cheating or anything, just don't want him/me to get spammed to death. Also, does the Platinum membership mean you have to maintain some minimum purchase amount for the year? Thanks.

Not only that, but you will NOT get points on any rebate amount that might come with your purchase. This system is more and more suck :disgust:

That is definitely the lamest part of their new scheme for RZ, especially considering there are some people who never mail in the rebate forms anyway (not me, though ).

And the "extra" coupons they send you because of RZ suck too. They are all now "good on regularly priced items only", so if something is on sale, the coupon won't work. They could save alot more money do away with all these "reward" program and not send out any worthless coupons.

# of employees, type of vertial industry, a few other basic questions...nothing too instrusive. You are not required to maintain a minimum purchase amount for the year either. What state are you in though? Not all stores have Best Buy for Business coming in...

From what I heard, the stores have been instructed to honor returns on RZ for any unstatisfied customers. Whether it will be a full refund or a proated one I do not know though. I would assume prorated but one never knows.

From what I heard, it's the full $10 amount, not a prorated amount. But yeah, anyone can get a refund if they are unsatisfied with the new program.

I love how they put the change in their explaination (direct quote from letter):

"We've made this change based on member feedback and Best Buy's desire to bring you this affordable and popular program."

Yeah- I know I FLOODED Best Buy with letters says "THE NUMBER OF POINTS YOU NEED FOR A LOUSY $5 IS WAY TOO LOW!!!! RAISE IT IMMEDIATELY!!!!!"

(This is not, of course, directed at you personally

If Best Buy does not offer full refunds, then they should have a class action suit. I can't believe that they would think it's okay to change the terms of an agreement without giving the option to either complete your year of membership on the old terms, or have your membership refunded.

This is the most basic form of a breach of contract. We have agreed to terms and one party wants to change the terms in the middle of the service.

I haven't read through the fine print of my original agreement but you can almost bet something to the effect "terms and conditions subject to change without notice" is in there.

Yep, they have a lot of "points earned on ALMOST every purchase" and "rules subject to change" clauses. Oh well, I got nearly $600 back from them this year (I bought all of my relative's new PC's ), so I got my $10 worth out of the card.

I also laughed at the letter... yeah, we all agreed to get LESS money back.

Are they aren't changing it so that one can store points indefinitely or once you hit the 45000, you automatically get a $15 coupon that expires in 6 months?
I'll probably not want to renew, since the program now sucks ass.
Maybe even get my membership back.

Anyways... I signed up when I bought 2 eMachines laptops end of March (6809s)
Since I work close to a Best Buy, I usually just have them price match any of the Fry's special deals. Figure I pay the same and get points too.

Well... all those points added up, so I got about $250 in RZ coupons + $25 BB gift card (credit card rewards program)

Total price of my BFG GeForce 6800GT OC.... $150 after taxes.
One this to remember, these coupons are applied to the PRE-TAX amount.

yeah, the funny thing was, when i got the notice that the requirement would be going up to 15,000 they claimed it was due to "customer feedback". yeah, ok, lets see, i'm a customer and they ask for my feedback and i say, hey, you're rebate is too big, please give me back less money.

whatever.

btw, i liken this to a frequent buyer card at subway. now, at subway if i buy 8 6-inch subs i get one free. at best buy if i 30 $5 things i get one free. pretty crummy program if you ask me! i renewed this year 'cause it was free, next year i don't think i'll bother.
