Just checked my account, and it seems that they are offering 5000 points not bad considering you get your points by email now and still can use them in store.

For every dollar spent (doesn't include tax, shipping, giftcard, rebate mail or instant) you get 100 points. Fof every 15000 pts accumulated. u get $5. So for about every $150 bucks you spend u get $5, which is about 3.3%

Yeah, I am currently getting my certificates every 12,500. Best Buy sent me a card w/1-year free membership when they launched the program, what 2 years ago or so?

It's only been a little over year since they launched (I got one of those free memberships too and I just had to renew my 1-year like a month ago). But yea, I was getting mine every 12,500. Did they really change it to 15,000? If so, that just sux big time!

Yeah they've changed the cards too along with upgrading the point requirement to 15,000... I can only chalk it up to greed....

I just got a RZ payout at 12,500 points on 8/28, so it sounds like the 15,000 points thing has just taken place within the last 2 or 3 days.

If they still want you to pony up 10 bux for a year, that means you have to spend $300.00 just to break even on the deal. blech.

But they did add the oppurtunity to enter the "customer service PIN" off the receipt to get your pouints if you "forget" to show them your card. hmmm.
I wonder if i can find any BB receipts floating around??

So does that mean it's 15,000 for new RZ memberships, or all of us originals are getting switch from 12,500 to 15,000 as well?

I just got a postcard in the mail that said I would get 25,000 points free ($10 in GCs) for renewing my membership to Reward Zone. I did it since I figured it was free anyways ... But wouldn't the card have said it was 30,000 in free points then?

By the way, play their free fantasy football game every week and it credits your RZ account with points (200 I think??)

I just got a letter from them in the mail yesterday. They upped the points needed from 12,500 to 15,000 for everyone. They also allow you to change how you get the certs, you can now get them via e-mail instead of snail mail, cheaper for them. They also are going to allow you to specify whether you want to get $5 certs or wait until you get more and get $10 or I think even a $15 cert.

OK, I'm here to help out with any questions about the new Reward Zone program. I have worked at Best Buy for over 5 years now and would be happy to answer any questions about Reward Zone or anything else for that matter.

The main reason for the switch was for increased profits (as is almost any decision made by a business for that matter). Anyone who was a member when it was 12,500 points per GC will be offered additional points for the switch and offered the option of opting out and receiving their membership fee back. I'm not sure what conidtions exist for the membership fee refund but it was something that was mentioned.

The email option was brought about for two reasons: 1) Less costs for mailing the damn things out and 2) Easier for the customer. Nothing was more annoying than having to bring in $100 in GC in $5 denominations and then watching the cashier apply all of them over thecourse of ten minutes. $15 is still not a huge sum but it is 3x faster than using $5. I'm hoping that eventually customers will be able to "store" their earned GC's on the card itself and use it as a rechargeable type of card.

Lastly, Best Buy for Businesss is launching on October 1 and one of the benefits of this is Reward Zone Platinum. If you are a small business owner you are able to obtain a Reward Zone Platinum membership which offers $5 for every 10,000 points in addition to no membership fee. The tradeoff is that some information about your business is required so that everyday Joe can't join up for the extra benefits.

That is about all I can think of on the current topic. Anything else just post or PM.

OK, I'm here to help out with any questions about the new Reward Zone program.

I got a letter in August saying I could get 2500 bonus points by signing up for their email newsletter at the RZ site. Trouble is, I can't find anything there about the newsletter or how to sign up. Any clue?

BlamoHammer, thanks for the info. I have one question, you probably won't be able to answer, but take a crack at it: There are a lot of stores with crabby reps who cringe at the site of a printed coupon, some even saying "no go on that coupon." Is this going to be a problem when people start bringing in their $5+ e-mailed RZ certs that are B&W or color printed? If so, I am going to be a rather angry customer...

I would check at your local store. They might be able to log on to the site there and find it for you.
