For the Maxell CDRs is says under TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
Photocopies of the Proof of Purchase (UPC bar code) will not be accepted nor will the proof of purchase be returned. Limit on Maxell rebate per unit. this mail in rebate is not vaild in combination with any other offers. BB 31148

And that's it. So there's no limit on the number of rebates you can send in? Seems a bit vague.

Really? Hmmm.. I might have to pick that up!

I'm not opposed to buying software when it's a reasonable price

I'd hold off on the purchase. Don't hurt yourself by not buying a quality player. In regards to that, here's what I'd recommend:

- Non progressive scan DVD player: Panasonic DVD-RP32. $119.99 (before a $20 rebate.) I picked mine up for $69.99 + tax at Circuit City because it was an "open box" item.

- Progressive scan DVD player: Panasonic DVD-RP82. $229.99 at Crutchfield and other retailers. You might find it for less from other vendors. This player gives you CD, DVD, MP3 and DVD audio capabilities. Plus, both optical digital and coax digital sound outputs are provided.

I was reading about the CyberHome over at the Nerd-Out forums. Read though the following before making your purchase decision:

Thread #1
Thread #2
Thread #3
Thread #4
Thread #5: Problems when using universal remotes

I could go on posting threads about the CyberHome players. I don't think I'd scrimp on trying to get too cheap of a player. Sure, price does not always equate to quality, but the Panasonic '32' has received a "5" out of "5" rating. If you're a hacker and want to play around with the device - work with the fimware, etc. - along with living with the issues that might be present in this player, then go for it. It seems that the manufacturing quality on the sub-$70 drives varies quite dramatically.

Here are some other items that might be of interest to people. I saw someone mention the BestBuy deals were posted, but I haven't seen them. These are straight from the circular available in-store

$4.99 items (we all like cheap stuff)
MOV58205/M PS2 controller extension cable
I001070MZ0 Playstation Gamepad
RC71082 TrapLight for Gameboy Advance
P-24608 Earbud headphones for GBA
MOV12310 Magnifier Light for GBA

3V1T63 32 CD Wallet $9.99

4388BT $79.99 12-Amp Eureka WhirlWind Bagless Vacuum

There are a bunch of more items, but I do need to do some work.
They also have PS1 games on sale for $9.99

The BestBuy in City of Industry, CA has bins of PS1 games ranging from $5-$10, looks like they are clearing them out.
They are also pushing combo deals of the consoles with MSN ISP service, like Xbox w/controller, 4 games and I think LIVE after rebates and MSN sign-up for a little over $200. Good, but I don't need MSN.

I picked myself up an Xbox limited edition, an extar S-controller, the Eureka vacuum for my wife, the rubber band for the vacuum and vacuum service plan, Xbox replacement plan using my %10 preferred coupon and walked out the door paying $363 total. Not bad I guess.
I thought the coupon would be off total purchase, but it's only good toward one item, so of course I took it off the Xbox.
There are also washer/dryers, cell phones a couple of cameras and TV's on sale. if anyone wants more info, I'll try to find time to post it.

odoe, if you could post the TV sales, it would be greatly appreciated.

and guys, listen to wje, he knows what he is talking about. if it is a gift for someone, that hey, that dvd player might be a good deal. that RP82 is one of the best progressive scan player out there. it has the Faroudja scaling chip, Faroudja is a name you see in scalers that costs thousands if not tens of thousands of dollars. i bet the Cyberhome dvd player's progressive scan is not even a true progressive output. maybe just a line doubler in the dvd, with no true 3:2 conversion, etc. if you don't have a Digital TV then this isn't important, but then you should get at least a name brand DVD player. i've seen samsung and panasonic dvd players for around $80. panasonic is best bang for your buck in DVD players IMO.

but then again, if it is only a gift, it's a great deal.
