Hi,

My first hot deal. Searched for Best Buy in the forum and could not locate prior threads on this deal. If it is a repost, please post link and mods, please lock this one.

BB has the Samsung 32x10x40 drive (SKU SW-232BRA) for $29.99 ($89.99 - $30 mir - $30 mir) on sale. Seems like a pretty good deal. The box says "Adopting a technology to prevent buffer under run error", but no name for the technology. I don't know how this drive compares to the other brands. There is at least one other CD-RW deal on this week, at Staples. Available online and at B&M.

edit: N/M, found it...i didn't look at the very last page at the very bottom right hand corner

Hi,

It's in this sunday's ad. At least here in NC. Last page, bottom right corner. And online too, search at the bb site for "SW-232BRASF".

My only question is, how do you send in for 2 rebates when you only have one original UPC?

One rebate is probably from Samsung and the other is from Bestbuy. I think Bestbuy will allow a copy of the UPC while samsung will most likely need the original one.

Per the rebate forms at bestbuy.com, they both go to Walled Lake, MI. One needs the original UPC and the other needs a copy of the UPC.

The price is great and it also includes Easy CD Creator and DirectCD...good stable software that works.

Does anyone have this drive and is it any good?

Bought this drive today installed and have burned two cds, seems to operate very will and is as the speed would indicate a little faster than my lite on 24x that I have in my other computer. Thanks for the tip!!

I also got mine today. It is a great drive and works really well. I burned a full 700 MB disc in about 4 minutes. Now the long, arduous wait for the rebates...

Nice deal, but between BB and Staples, I rather wait for the Staples rebate. I never had a problem with the Staples rebate. On the other hand, BB's rebates are a pain in the knek.

I'll recommend anyone to go for the staples deal at 19.99 for the Cendyne CD-RW... I'm using it right now. it's bundled with Nero software and it's most importantly stable!!! I've burned 10 CDs in like 2 hours...

hmmm, that's sad. Mac calls Acraptec Easy Coaster Creator good and stable... i guess you've never had the priviledge of trying Nero =)

Why is it sad? I don't know anything about Nero, may be a better product, but I have used Easy CD Creator for over 4 years and it works just fine for my needs. It is far better than some of the no name crap that is usually bundled with burners.

Saying that, pointless put-downs and flames such as Yodayoda's, seems to be chronic on this particular forum anymore. I don't know why or when this got started but "Hot Deals" has morphed from a fun and informative forum to a place where too many bored and jaded morons look for any opportunity to crap someone's deal or slam another member. You have to wonder what's the motivation.

i COMPLETELY agree with you that this forum has DEFINITELY changed from the friendly, helpful state of which it once was...
having said that, i HATE easy cd creator with a passion
i don't like samsung cdrw (16x) that much either, but it's not my place to crab the thread with why
will advise people (that are interested in what i have to say) to photocopy EVERYTHING {even the envelope showing correct address} before sending off the rebate...
and wishing good luck to same

I'm don't know whether the drive is any good or not...that was really the purpose of my first post. Does anyone have any experience with it? For $30 after rebates, a 32X burner from a name brand manufacturer looks pretty good, if it works.

Hope someone will posts their experiences with it.

Does anyone know if Samsung is better than Cendyne? I have the Cendyne 32x here too, trying to decide which to keep and which to put on ebay. I believe the drive is actually made in Korea, and Cendyne is made in China, so technically Samsung should be more reliable? Any suggestion is apprecaited!

and you call yourself chinafifa? for shame
anyway, what's the model # of the cendyne (labeled on the drive)? might give a better clue as to who the manufacturer (used to be lite-on, don't know now) is. one could always run the fcc id also...

which one is better? that's debatable, depends on what you want to do with it
but here are some links for reviews of lite-on 32x
1
and
2
do a search for lite-on in this forum and ghardware. you will see several members moaning about how they didn't get a lite-on in a deal (especially officemax ones of late). good luck!
