The point is, you agree when you buy your item that returns are only possible with a reciept at Best Buy. Lose your receipt, that's your problem.

I guess so, I too have learned my lesson & except for a few instances(small dvd/cd purchases) I always keep my receipt from bb until the return period has ended.

And while I do believe Best Buy does have some way of looking up those past transactions on a credit card, that's not what that system is for.
Apparently

... Then why'd you quote me saying CC doesn't have such a system in place?

would you ?

You're an idiot for paying $264 in the first place. But yes, I would pay the same amount for an equivalent card, why not? You plan on returning a used card, no? So why expect anything other than a used card in return?

No I plan returning an ATI peice of junk...........How used is 4 days ???

The one they return to you will also have been used for 4 days.

As per your second statement, CC can look up any transaction that was made with a CC, check, or cash(with a value of $100 or more & correct info from the customer) as far back as 5-7 years.

I believe you, I've seen them do it. I've also seen them decline someone's return based on the fact that their rate of return was so high. They had basically returned just about everything they'd ever bought. So that system can work against you.

Agreed. Ive seen the same thing happen

Because you said CC, and naturally I assumed you mean Credit Card, since Circuit City had not yet been mentioned in the thread. Honest mistake.

Now that I think about it, I've used "CC" for both circuit city and credit card. Good thing I didn't start calling you names.

Oh well, the OP is a retard, and I don't think he deserves his money back, to be honest. Good thing ATI got their money outa him.

EDIT: NuclearFusi0n, edit your post man. Don't help this idiot.

Here's what you gonna do....

Go buy another exact card from them. Open it, take the new card out, put the broken ass card back and then return it.

be an a-hole about it too and said that it doesn't work and no you don't want a fking exchange. you want your money back now!

You can no more prove that your card was used for 4 days than they can prove that theirs was used for 4 days. I'd say it's pretty much even. Can you even do an RMA w/o the original sales reciept?

... Why didn't you get the 6800 GT in the first place if you could afford it? It's an all around better card...

lol, I do the same though I usually use CC for Circuit City and cc for credit card, but the two can be easily mistaken for one another.

You're kidding me, right? I mean who in their right mind does the following:

1) Buys an expensive electronic piece of equipment and pays cash
2) Puts the receipt for said item in his brother's drawer whom is KNOWN to tear up his room
3) Not even bother to make a copy of the receipt, just in case

You have nobody to blame but yourself bub. I sure hope that whomever manufactured the card will do an RMA without a receipt because some manufacturers do that as well to prove that it is still under warranty. I was lucky when I had something similar happened (although I could have generated a receipt since it was purchased with a CC) on an old GeForce 2 Pro card from Leadtek. They were nice though and still did a replacement on the card.

Heh, that works too. You're not really cheating the system then either if you're story is 100% true.

Hmmm I like the way you think

Problem solved

Luckily most CSRs are now trained to look at the serial number on the box and match it with the one on the part.

... they sell them to other people who wish to take on the responsibility of RMAing the piece of hardware. Companies don't knowingly sell broken parts that need to be RMA'ed. What's your point?
