Its not like BB will lose anything. They send hundreds of defective items back to manufacturers for credits all the time so whats 1 more card.

Sure he lost his receipt but BB do not lose anything by just exchanging the card for him.
If this is the type of service BB provide....why doesn't everyone just buy online ??

Stupidity. Theres tons of reasons to buy online over B&M, the only advantages B&M have over online is extended warrenties and faster purchase time, and newegg now offers extended warrenties...

So short of being obsessed with having the item in your hand when you buy it, or needing the item THAT SECOND for some time-constraint reason, there is no reason to walk into a best buy.

but newegg bahves like a small time website, and very different from b&m, in that they change their prices constantly based on demand and quantites in stock, and that includes going well above msrp. This is something that most large b&m's don't do, they are content with sellng at msrp and making the ~20% profit margin it holds over the wholesalr cost. So you could say newegg has gouging logic is built into the newegg web store application. Therefore it may be better to buy online from the b&m's.

they look up my transactions on the computer all the time... of course i use a credit card, and that makes things infinitely easier =P

I don't understand all the peeps saying he should have kept the receipt - first of all, he did not intend to lose it, it's just an unlucky turn of events which could happen to anyone, and second of all, by now he knows all too well how much trouble it could have saved him if he had the receipt, not to mention being subjected to ridicule on this forum. He posted here looking for helpful suggestions and opinions about best-buy's service, so if you don't have any, please stop posting the most obvious, trivial and unhelpful crap you've been posting.

Why the rolling eyes? Go return something to a Target store without a receipt. They will ask you for your CC. from that they can pull all your past purchases from the last 90 days. Best Buy could do that, but they are a sh!tty company that I never pruchase anything from.

Thank the overclockit-modit-breakit-exchangeit people for Best Buy's unwillingness to help you out. If they only got a few returns a month from people who's items were honestly defective, I'm sure they'd have no problem replacing your's. But these morons see those 30 days as a "try it before you buy it" period.

what do you expect of people that overclock and break it to do ? obviously they will try to get a replacement, so I guess you have a problem with that ? or is it that you're opposed to overclking in the first place ?

If you're going to overclock, then you know ahead of time there's a chance you'll damage your card. If you attempt to replace the hardware due to your own mistreatment of it, then fundamentally you are being dishonest. Many people would try to get a replacement, yes, but that doesn't make it right.

As far as the receipt goes: I know that if I spent $265 on anything, I'd put the receipt somewhere safe. Lesson learned.

I come to learn from these people by their recations that its pretty clear that the ones bashing me have fell into some kinda situation like mine and got raped by some company. The "bashers" left over anger from their problems fuels not only their opinions and comments toward me and my problem, but Best Buy as well. Its pretty clear to me now that they all say "STAY AWAY FROM BEST BUY"...


UPDATE: Just for the record... I found the receipt at my brothers today so all you bashers can bet your sour asses this things gone back tomorrow:

I started this thread, I had a problem and could not find the receipt and I thought you guys could help with an exchange or what not You people turned my words around and bashed me because of my mentally retarted brothers mis-placement of the sales receipt.... I don't owe you people any proof of anything.

he doesn't need to prove anything to you, this thread was intended to help him get a replacement or his money back for an original defective product which is covered under store replacement policy and manufacturer warranty, the only problem (for which he needed your help) was a misplaced receipt.

Was there something about a dead relative or dead pet I missed?

Facts are, you buy dead ATI products and try to return them. Nobody (except scammers and maybe a few decent people) go into any store anymore and buy a large item ($200.00 + item) with cash.

Stores are forced to not accept returns or exchanges without a receipt because of trash like you. The way you talk makes me think you are about 15 years old. You are young enough, change into somebody who is useful in society.

I am not sure how things are today, but mentally retarded people when I was growing up did not need $250.00+ video cards. They played with bouncy balls and other "childrens stuff". Do you need at $250.00+ card for him to play "Blue's Clues"? Did he tear the receipt into such small pieces that that it couldn't be read?

I expect them to realize what they're doing, and know how to do it properly before doing it... and also realize that if their dumb ass screws it up, THEY should absorb the cost, not the store or the manufacturer or anyone else. Those 30 day return policies aren't for you to beat the shyt out of it and see if it survives, and if it doesn't, return it.
