I was browsing slickdeals and happened upon a deal at best buy. If you buy a $100 set of car speakers you get a free radio and headphones. I recently bought the exact radio less than a month ago so I called in and asked a manager if they will allow me to return it and buy the set without bringing in the unit since it was installed already. The guy says yes.
I went in there expecting to do a quick return and buy... wrong. I found the products and went directly to customer service. The first person I spoke to asked me a string of questions and then informed me to go to customer service even though I was standing under the sign that said customer service... "I'm a PC guy"... okay not the worst thing in the world to wait in line again I guess.
The next person took probably 20 minutes to find my information... 20 minutes to debate with me about the deal... finally she calls someone from the mobile department to help.
This next guy comes up and all he is focused on is how butthurt he is that I installed the radio myself... Okay... He thought the deal was for two radios even though the BB site explicitly explained the deal... not to mention I had the speakers and headphones sitting on the counter. He also thought it was impossible to buy the radio from a store even though I picked it up from a different store some while ago.
Finally they call in a manager and she gives me a spiel about online deals and how I can't buy in the store even though I had the choice to pick up the items from the store. She wanted me to uninstall the radio, return it and then buy everything again online. Finally after a quick debate she tells the other two to do the transaction.
Jesus Christ... Probably an hour in the store just waiting and debating with min wage workers. If I had known I probably would have just said fuck it.... I already invested too much time though.
Honestly though... when I had a min wage job in HS, I never bothered trying to stop someone from getting a legitimate deal. These people seem bent on not giving me what I want based on small technicalities.
