The receipts may have said nothing about "return" - but, did they say anything like "exchange" on them? However, if you returned the item, then repurchased the item, you should be fine. Many CS agents want to just do a simple "exchange" because it is much less work for them. But, doing this type of transaction is what might cause the rebate to get rejected.

There should be a phone number on the rebate form. Hopefully, you made some copies before sending everything in. Look at the rebate form and see if a number exists. If so, give them a call.

Hey man, what did I do to deserve your post in my thread? We are members of a community that shares information and, in this case, warns fellow members of potential problems with "deals". In the case of this laptop the deal was posted on the forums months ago and many people jumped on it. Two weeks later BB dropped the price a further $150 and a BB manager told us to come on down and get the paperwork for the additional rebate. We did nothing wrong and everything was legal. Do you work for BB? Put yourself in my shoes. You buy this thing thinking it will be one price and find out that, while you did everthing right (confirmed by BB) they still do not want to pay up? Your post was partially in response to my comment to another user who actually hoped that I and all others who bought the laptop would NOT get the rebates. That's just mean-spirited. When I post on this board I do so using the general rule that I would not say anything here that I would not say to the person's face. I also live by the forum rules (excerpt follows): "What about COURTESY? No thread crapping. If the subject matter of a deal does not interest you, do not post negative comments about it, or about other members, in the thread. Possibly the worst examples we have had of this have been in posts for free religious items, such as bibles, etc. If you want to discuss religion, or any other such non-computer topic, do it in our Off Topic forum. The discussions in that forum cover a wide range of topics, but needless flaming and rude, mean-spirited posts are not welcome there, either. Stick to discussing the deal. next time you need to Pre-buy something in BB and PM later, I doubt u will due to this incident, do the following

tell CSR to RETURN and RE-purchase, that way you will be guranteed a CLEAN receipt.
ask them do NOT do a Pricematch or Exchange, simple as that.

Learn the rule, play the game,
if you cannot win them, join them.

Let me see, last time i posted something here complaining about BB, all i got was flamed because I posted in the wrong section.

The way I see it, "pre-buying" is cheating. If someone wants to stretch the rules and "pre-buy", they have no-one to blame but themselves when things go wrong. I'm sure there were just as many people who were equally upset, that stood in line only to find no product available because of all of the "prebuys".

Best Buy prints out Rebate Receipts when a product is returned. The receipts do not show the return and reflect the date in which the item was returned and repurchased.

Yes, they do show the return/exchange in big bold letters across the top of the receipt to be accompanied with the receipt: EXCHANGE or RETURN respectively. It's obvious this guy didn't qualify for the rebates. It explicity stats on the rebate that the original purchase must be made on the 29th, not the exchange or return. If he wants, call up corporate as they usually take care fo the customer.

Whether he receives the declined rebate or Best Buy hands him the cash, he is entitled to it due to their 14 day price guarantee on laptops.

well rules are rules if they say you must purchase something on this date then thats that. Anyways, if something is just on sale then yes i would go and get it price matched but rebates are diffrent the something just being on sale!

well sorry about your luck but if you read the fine print on the adds also they stated that there will be no price matching. so even if there puter did price match and print ya the rebates the rebate company didnt have to accept it. If you would have asked to return it and then purchase it like stated above you might have got away with it. so hope you get your money but if ya dont next time play by the rules

I had no idea that this thread had been moved to OT. So be it. I am amazed at how varied the responses to this thread have been, from understanding (Minendo) to condescending (Jimmyhahaha). Man, I send Jimmy a PM asking him to follow the forum rules on courtesy and he replies that he does not wish to start a flame war AND THEN is kind enough to post my PRIVATE MESSAGE in this thread. Jimmy, you are such a two-faced coward. If you did not want a flame war then why did you ask me not to reply and then post my PM to YOU in a PUBLIC forum (this thread)?

To all who have/will read this post: My intention and motivation for starting this thread was to warn buyers of this laptop about potential problems with the associated rebates. I was trying to be helpful and ended up receiving unprovoked attacks from members who do not even have a firm grasp of the english language (you know who you are Jimmy).

This will probably be my last update to this thread because my stomach turns everytime I read it, but I feel that I owe the considerate users additional info. UPDATE: Was told by BB that I would receive the first rebate (paperwork already resubmitted). I assume that since BB will honor the first rebate that they will do so for the second. I called Toshiba (# is on the rebate form) today in Mesa. Was told that the rebate has been received, validated, and will be paid inthe next three weeks.
