To be fair, well...IRL, a lot of consumers are still behind the technology curve. I'm honestly surprised Netflix is as popular as it is. Today I was asked by a smart (but non-techie) individual at work what the best software is for ripping and burning copies of DVD movies today. 2012. Land of downloads & Bluray. Wanted DVD movie copy software to make movie copies for his friends.

Radio shack used to be one of my favorite stores years ago.

I was talking to a guy recently who was asked at Radioshack on his way out after buying a $10 cable if he wanted the $.99 protection plan.

Sad what we've come to.

I bought a $3 cable there last week and the sales dude was pushing that $.99 plan like it was the deal of the week. I told him no the first time saying it's a cable, it is either going to work when I go to use it or it wont, and if it doesn't I'm returning it. Like 3 more times after that during the checkout he was like are you sure?

Yea lol I just avoid these stores at all costs now. They treat you like some kind of moron just waiting to be separated from their money.

BBY under current management is going to fail. Their gimmicks had worked once - during an economic boom no less. They are addicted to those sales figures, and will keep trying to ramp up the gimmicks to make up for falling revenue/profit. They don't know how to do anything else.

They are obviously incompetent at running a REAL retail store. The prices suck, and they just cry about amazon. As gas was going upward to $4 Amazon was still able to keep prices lower.

BBY can cry about amazon all they want, but what I really do is walk across the street and buy electronics from target and Walmart. Walmart frequently beats amazon in price, especially for smaller items. Electronics simply aren't the big-ticket super cool shopping trip that they used to be. Now its just kinda like "ehh... tube TV died need to get an LCD for $200-300" in 90% of cases.

They could make a legit business out of accessories, wires, TV mounts, etc if their store wasn't so damn annoying to shop in.

i don't understand this because afaik you can return stuff like that for a full refund. who would pay for the right to get something they offer for free?

There is nothing wrong with the grammar of that sentence due to the word, basically being included in it. Try again.

Also, who goes to Best Buy, or any other seller of appliances, home theater equipment, and media and expects to find "cutting-edge" anything.

High-end, maybe (not at Best Buy), but cutting edge... That term is something reserved for research, not consumer-level anything.

I'm getting tired of being asked to buy a "protection plan" for every piece of media I buy. THAT is what is wrong with America, not just Best Buy.
