I'm looking to upgrade my (ahem) Nvidia Vanta to something with a little more gusto, but I'm no l33t gaming fiend looking for the cutting edge. So, for around $100, what's the best card for doing a little light gaming?
The 9100 is the 8500LE renamed. It is faster than the 9000Pro. 8500/9100 series has two texture units per pixel pipeline vs. one per pipe on the 9000 series.
For about $110-$125 you could pick up a Ti4200 64mb card. Works as well as a 128mb card in most current games, certainly at lower resolutions. You start to lose out on its bigger brother when you crank the resolution up, turn on AA and play the more recent heavily graphics intensive games.
