Best Card for Image Quality + Graphics Design?

I currently have the original geforce video card, and I would like to upgrade to a new video card with spectacular image quality both 2D and 3D for graphics design. I want the colors to be vibrant and bright, and the text to be crisp. If you have any suggestions, it'd be greatly appreciated!!

I'm currently looking at these cards:

Matrox Millenium G450 32MB DDR
ATI Radeon 32MB + 64MB Versions

I've no experience with Radeons, but I do love Matrox cards.. you can't go wrong with a Matrox

However if 3D is of importance to you, the Radeon, I hear, is certainly superior to the Matrox offerings in 3D, so it's definitely worth a try.

I use the AIW Radeon with video, 2D and 3D graphics applications (premiere,photoshop, 3dsMax) works great!

You can't go wrong with either of them. 2D image quality is similar, but the Radeon has better 3D while the G450 supports Dual Head.

I love my G450 dual head. It's perfect for working on multiple Photoshop files at once...

I've been using a G400 for awhile now but will be trying out a Radeon in the next day or so. I'll report back with results. I do a lot of graphics work on my home office machine and the bottom line is that quality 2D is more important to me than fast framerates in the few games I play. I'm pretty hooked on UT CTF so I do need decent 3D. Anyway, I'm hoping the Radeon will preserve the superior 2D I already enjoy, and let me step up a resolution or two in games.

BTW, I use a V3 2000 PCI rather than the dual head on the G400 to drive my second monitor. This is much more convenient when jumping back and forth between games and work. Plus (and more importantly), the G400 wouldn't drive both monitors at 1280x1024x32bit res.

Yeah, please let me know what you think of the radeon. I really do not need the superior 3d that much persay, but 2d, vibrant colors, crisp black text is of utmost importance. Thanks!

i've got a radeon, has crisp 2d, vibrant colors. they even added something in the new drivers that activates some registers on the chip that makes it look a little bit better than before. i could notice it a little, colors are brighter. I used to have a voodoo4 and a voodoo5 and well they aren't as good in 2d. I'd just get a matrox, if you dont care about 3d because in win2k the software is better for independant resolutions or refresh rates on 2 monitors. Personally i'd just buy a 32mb LE. Which is what i have. If you need a 2nd monitor buy another card.
