Best Catch Ever

Looks like a standard over the shoulder catch that they do in the NFL all the time...

Except that the football is a lot bigger than a baseball, is not 400+ feet away when hit/thrown, and a baseball is more susceptible to wind.

Except a football player does not have a glove and footballs are oddly shaped so they do not always fly straight, even without any wind.

Furthermore, baseball is not played in the rain or snow and a centerfielder does not have a safety or linebacker barreling down on him at full speed planning to take his head off the moment he touches the ball.

Catching a baseball vs. a football are two totally different skill sets.

Reading a baseball off the bat at the speed a line drive comes at and trying to figure out the spin of the ball is far harder than trying to figure out where a football is going. With football, the challenge is the player trying to stop you, like you said.

Both are equally challenging in different ways.

Once you judge where the ball is going to be and am able to get to that spot (skills that are somewhat interchangeable between the two sports, IMO), catching a baseball is a LOT easier than catching a football.

BTW, I have caught many more baseballs/softballs than footballs.

Sorry, I only played 4 years of high school varsity baseball; outfield, first base and catcher.

Have you ever tried to field a punt or catch a line drive pass from John Elway? I have tried the former and have seen the latter in person (and have had someone with a great arm throw me a line drive pass). All without anyone trying to kill the receiver.

IMO, catching a football is harder than catching a baseball.
