best cfm for about 30 dba, 80mm Fan.

getting an thermalright ax-7. my psu is quite loud so i may as well go around 30 dba, whats the best fan i can get for that noise level?

jonah255, if you want to quiet down you PS fan have a look here: http://www.ocmodshop.com/psu.asp , I just did the mod last night, w/ one exception, I spliced the connector from the original fan w/ the two wires on the Panaflo. My method worked quite well and others have done it that was as well

Seems like a lot of models have specs along the lines of 39 cfm at 32 dba, such as the Sunon mid-speeds (their -2 models, ) and the Panaflo H1A series. You could also look at the YS Tech rheostat version, which allows you to dial the speed/noise/cfm you are comfortable with.

Sounds like a power supply mod would be a good step for you too, as the external fans are the ones that are most noticeable. If you quiet down the rear fan, likely you'll be much happier.

Most 80mm fans that is >=30dB out put is around 30cfm. I have seen Some dual bearing design that can reach as high as 48cfm at around 32dB.

80cfm fan at 52.5dB.

The 70cubic foot server cabinet that I built for work have a dual 120mm fan system with output of 75cfm each at 45dB. It gives me just over 2psi of pressure with filter in place. The ambient temperate of at the intake area was 31C, while the temperature inside the cabinet at the top was 32C. The exhaust of the dual 1.4mhz Athlon server was at 40.5C. It showed that you don?t really need to have much more than 2psi of pressure to have adequate cooling. The over all server cabinet have to cool 2 power supply units that consumed 1000W each, 2 Xenon 400mhz, and 2 Xenon 1000mhz, 3 24ports switches at 225 mhz each, & a cable modem.
