I'm in the process of purchasing a residential rental property in U.K. as investment and need to transfer approximately $25,000 that will go towards downpayment.

What is the best and most inexpensive way to transfer such a large amount of money? I'm looking for the best exchange rate and lowest fees for such a transfer.

Thanks in Advance.

Dear Friend,

As you read this, I don't want you to feel sorry for
me, because, I believe everyone will die someday.
My name is MR Adada Muhammadu a Crude Oil merchant in
Iran,i have been diagnosed with Esophageal cancer .
It has defied all forms of medical treatment, and
right now I have only about a few months to live,
according to medical experts.
I have not particularly lived my life so well, as I
never really cared for anyone(not even myself)but my
business. Though I am very rich, I was never
generous, I was always hostile to people and only
focused on my business as that was the only thing I
cared for. But now I regret all this as I now know
that there is more to life than just! wanting to have
or make all the money in the world.
I believe when God gives me a second chance to come
to this world I would live my life a different way
from how I have lived it. Now that God has called
me, I have willed and given most of my property
and assets to my immediate and extended family
members as well as a few close friends.
I want God to be merciful to me and accept my soul
so, I have decided to give alms to charity
organizations, as I want this to be one of the last
good deeds I do on earth. So far, I have distributed
money to some charity organizations in Austra, cameroun,
liberia,Algeria and Malaysia. Now that my health has
deteriorated so badly, I cannot do this myself
anymore. I once asked members of my family to close
one of my accounts and distribute the money which I have
there to charity organization in Bulgaria and
Pakistan, they refused and kept the money to
themselves. Hence! , I do not trust them anymore, as
they seem not to be contended wi th what I have left
for them.

The last of my money which no one knows of is the
huge cash deposit of Eight million dollars
$8,000,000,00 that I have with a finance/Security
Company abroad. I will want you to help me collect this
deposit and dispatched it to charity organizations.

I have set aside 10% for you and for your time.

God be with you.

Why do you want to buy a house in the UK as an investment? What do you hope to gain in the long term?

1. Go to your bank
2. Ask for cashier's check against your account for $25k
3. Send it to UK
4. Success

Well with replies thus far (with exception of Konichiwa), it isn't a surprise that jobs are being out sourced to other parts of the world. You people need to think more globally.

Not that I need to justify any legal transfer of money, but to explain to those not aware of global business transactions and in my very simple case where I'm actually from the U.K. and may move back there someday and so wanted to capitalise on an investment opportunity and hense in the process of purchasing the property.

This coming from an idiot asking ATOT for help transferring 25k to the UK.

Where do you live? Have you visited the property you are about to invest in? If so, why didn't you take care of financial arrangements then and there?

So you're implying that people on ATOT are not intelligent enough to answer such question, but I believe otherwise. I'm only looking for few intelligent responses from the thousands of which most may not be able comprehend the transaction.

the only way to move large amounts of money is to put them it in stacks 10,000 and transport in a briefcase

I live in US, I saw the property while on vacation over there and decided to buy. I did not go there with intentions of buying property, it happened while I was already there on vacation.

put the money in a glass jug and throw it in the ocean... maybe it will make it to the UK eventually.

Actually you were the one implying that most people on ATOT are not intelligent enough to keep jobs in the US. I just think your an idiot because you didn't talk to a finacial advisor/bank/etc about this before coming here.
You do know what google is right?

You do know what google is right?

You seem to assume that this is the only place where I'm trying to get an answer to my question. This is the "Off Topic" forum, right. I'm only trying to get some ideas from the general users out there that might have some great ideas, isn't that what discussion forums are about?

And if you think by calling me an "idiot" makes you more intelligent then you are sadly mistaken, although it will increase your post count and get you a fancy title.

I call you an idiot only because i don't want to get banned. I assume that you have not talked to financial institutions/banks/etc because they will give you the best answer to the questions that you have asked. If you have talked to them, what did they tell you? I'm sure others would like to know.

Your remark "Well with replies thus far (with exception of Konichiwa), it isn't a surprise that jobs are being out sourced to other parts of the world. I'm sure if you did a little reading you would know that the outsourcing has nothing to do with remarks on a forum replying to an asshat that can't seem to use a phone or the Internet.

You obviously found replies in this thread implying terrorism, illigal activity, etc intelligent and you're calling me ignorant. You must have joined this forum to increase your post count because I can't imagine you helping anyone with any helpful information. Are you that insecure about your intelligence/knowledge that you have to stoop to insulting people to get noticed.

You also seem to think that the best answers come from the actual intitutions that are trying to make money from such a transaction, some of the answers I got from financial institutes are :

Wire transfer (fee range $50 - $250 + markup on exchange rate)
Western Union (max amount $2000 - fee 124.00)
Fund a UK based Brokerage account then liquidate it in GBP - looking into cost of this.

Info from non-financial institute (someone who has done it):
Send a regular US Bank check to UK and deposit it into UK bank account - No fees, lower markup on exchange rate - disadvantage is it takes several weeks. Will need to investigate if Konichiwa's suggestion of using Cashiers check and depositing it to UK bank account.
