Since I've only posted foreign films so far, I will contribute two American suggestions:

Christmas in Connecticut - a fun 1945 romantic comedy about a magazine writer who pretends to be a "Martha Stewart" type homemaker but is then forced to carry out her masquerade in real life

Reindeer Games - OK, I wouldn't call this a "quality" film like the others, but if you are looking for an alternative to Die Hard for some Christmas action, this dark Christmas heist caper may be worth checking out

I've always felt like "It's a Wonderful Life" is a terrible movie that teaches the values of mediocrity and never striving to better yourself.

most of the "Christmas Carol" adaptations annoy me too because they're not true to the story's real ending, where Scrooge was still pretty much a dick at the end (and his "redemption" was like giving Bob Cratchet a couple extra pieces of coal for the fire)

but to actually contribute to the thread... The Cheaters (1945) was a pretty great, under the radar Christmas movie.

Scrooge, the guy works his ass off all his life, with good work ethics. he gets rich yet is frowned up by his choice in what he does with his money. His comment in how his taxes pay for shelters..etc was spot.
I know the moral of the story is giving, but in this story its a bunch of poor people who obviously did not try in life and expect hand outs. Cratchet was a whiny ass who worked there of his own choice.
pathetic movie imo. Mirrors what poor, lazy people today think and expect.

Now A xmas story is my fav. it has that classical charm and visual spirit. Something you see less of these days. Even the mall santa's these days have cheap props and bad santa's. From beginning to end, it mirrors the child like nostalgia of a wholesome christmas

Joyeux Noel - a wonderful French film based on the true story of a spontaneous truce breaking out on Christmas during World War I

Really a great film. And maybe one you can stream on Netflix for free. Worth renting or acquiring in any event.
