best cleansers for monitor?

sorry.. didn't know if this was the right forum for this kind of question but anyways..

im looking for opinions on the best cleaning solution / wipes for my CRT..

So far what I have used has left lots of streaking and I don't know if using a 100% cotton bath towel is fully safe on my screen.. Anyways what do you guys recommend?

I just use windex + a cotton towel on mine, which does an ok job.
I don't know how safe this is but seeing as I don't have a very expensive monitor I'm not worried.

Yeah my monitor is a nice sony and I would like to keep it well cleaned but do not want to damage the surface while keeping it streak/static free...

if your monitor has any anti-static/anti-glare coatings, which most monitors seem to now, you shouldn't use any strong solvents like ammonia because they damage the coatings. i find that, for the most part, a damp cloth (old cotton t-shirts work pretty well) gets it pretty clean. for more stubborn stuff, i use some highly-diluted dish detergent, and then wipe it again with just water.

I use water and a microfiber polishing cloth (the kind that is used to clean glasses and camera lenses)

windex with ammonia is a definate no no

I'm using the 3M Screen Cleaner Kit, the 3M glass wipes also work pretty well.
