Yellow? I'm going to paint the fairings on my motorcycle and I think I'm set on this color. Looks decent, and easily visible. After I sand it down, do I need to put any primer? Also what paint do you guys recommend?

Thanks

I'm not personally a fan of yellow. Red/white/black would probably be my colors of choice, but whatever floats your boat.

Pretty sure for fairings you're going to need to do the whole kablooie for a quality finish (sand, prime, paint, clear coat), but maybe someone here has actually done it before. Are you just doing the fairings or the gas tank as well?

Yellow or green

I rather despise that green color...reminds me of those horrible neon colored swim trunks from the 80s. I know, the Kawasaki loyalists freaking love that color...but I hate it.

Kawasaki does have a nice metallic orange I've seen on some of their bikes that I really like though. A friend of mine has a ZX10R in that color and it looks sick.

Think there was a study done a while back about safety and colors for motorcycles. Conclusion was that there is no safe colour. Looking at a bike from the front, you'll see a big fat black tire, headlights, and maybe one or two square feet of fairings. The side is a different story, but that'll only be an issue if someone sideswipes you by not checking their blindspot.

Looks-wise either black or red (I'm thinking of a CBR though).

School-bus yellow. It's that color for a reason. Not that it'll matter much for a motorcycle, though. School buses are gigantic slabs of yellow. If you can't see a motorcycle, then you just plain can't see it.

But the color might catch your eye whereas black.. dumb dumb choice for a small vehicle.

I personally like kawasaki's plasma blue. I had an 05 636 and loved the color.

A lot of it depends on the bike IMO..

Every cager that takes out a bike says the same thing..."I didn't see it". You will never be "visible" on a bike. Get the color you like best.

Ride paranoid and consider getting a headlight and brakelight modulators. https://www.kisantech.com/

The added bonus for the headlight modulator is that many people think you are a cop and pull over and out of your way.

PS. The Speed Triple in Blazing Orange (pictured above) is abso-freaking gorgeous in person. But not as awesome as Matte Black...

Yellow or green

i know someone with almost the exact ducati 748

but as for night visibility i dont think color makes any difference because when you see a bike at night, can you even identify the color unless its directly under a street light?

Honestly, I don't think it makes a damned bit of difference. Being aware and riding defensively are your best bet for staying alive. Never ride after drinking and getting some training also will go a long way toward ensuring your survival...far more than the color of your bike anyway.

I'm a bit bored with blue right now so am thinking of yellow and black on my next bike, but (dark) red and black looks great on most bikes.
